    Here are some more ways to keep flowers fresh:
  *Start with a clean vase- bleach or antibacterial detergent to disinfect it and rinse it well
  *Remove all leaves and flowers that will be below the water line in the vase.
  *Give the stem a fresh cut with a knife at a slant (scissors can crush the stem and make it so the stem cannot use capillary action to pull in water, cutting at a slant exposes more surface area which allows more water into the stem)
  *Use room temp water for most flowers, but cool water for bulb flowers (tulips, hyacinth, etc.)
  * recut stems and replace water every couple of days. This is the best way to keep flowers fresh! Do not just top off the water, but replace it
  * remove flowers as they die
  * do not put flowers in direct sunlight or in a warm place (on top of a TV, for example)
