Raleigh Rose Garden

Is anyone here having their ceremony at the Raleigh Rose Garden? If so, do you have a backup option for rain, and if so, what is it? I just started looking at the Rose Garden today and was wondering what other people do in the event of bad weather. Thank you!

I had a friend get married there, I just asked him what his rain plan was and he said "hope".  I know that's not much help, sorry.  It's a beautiful location!  What time of year are you considering?  Have you asked someone at the garden what couples usually do if it rains?

We've booked the Raleigh Rose Garden for our ceremony!  Our rain plan is pretty similar to Piratelega's friend, "hope."  We plan on renting a tent if we need it, since our reception location doesn't have a room we could use for a rain plan.

You could always find a reception venue, like a country club, that has other rooms that you could use for the ceremony.

    Hope that helps!! :)

Jess - If you rent a tent, how does that work? Do you call the tent company the morning of you wedding and say, it looks like rain, please bring the tent? And if you don't need it, then you don't use it and pay nothing - or do you have to put down some type of deposit for them to be available?

Also, how much does a tent rental cost? Thanks!

    Michelle,

To my knowledge (the research that I've done thus far), we will have to reserve the tent the day before the wedding.  I'm not sure if you can call them the morning of and have it on stand-by.  Each rental company will probably have different policies, deposits and/or have different guidelines for this.  I know that you can't use stakes to secure it to the ground at the Rose Garden, but you can use sandbags, cement buckets, etc.

As for cost, it depends on how big of a tent you'll need.  For 125-150 people it'll probably cost at least $400 depending on which rental company you go with.

What dates were you interested in at the Rose Garden?!

    Jessica,

Thanks for the additional info! I'm looking generally at April/May 2011.

Awesome!  Stop in or call Gina soon.  I had to show my proof of insurance 2 weeks ago, and there was only one weekend in May left then.  They book up so fast!

    Best of luck! :)

I'm getting married in the rose garden sept 4 2010- we had thought about having our reception there and renting a really big tent. well, a big tent was going to cost $3-4k (but that was big enough for tables and chairs, dance floor, food and about 175 people). But the kicker for me was this: you cant stake in the garden so you use water barrels- those water barrels come empty so you have to find a water source and fill them up! I started having visions of me out there in my gown with a hose the day of my wedding. So, we decided to have our reception at Flanders Gallery downtown. If it rains we'll have the ceremony there, in the reception space (we're having a short non-religious ceremony with no attendants).

I hope that helps- I dont in any way mean to discourage you from getting married in the garden, because it is such a beautiful special place. Just letting you know that the rental people I talked to kind of shuddered when I asked about getting a tent down there!
