Gifts for a traveling bride and groom

My fiance and I are planning on leaving for a 1 year trip around the world 2 days after our wedding.  We are already getting requests about a registry and what gifts we want.  We will be traveling light and already have almost everything we need for our trip, besides cash.  Anything that we can't take with us will end up in storage for a year and we may not even want it when we get back.

What kinds of things can we ask for?

Re: Gifts for a traveling bride and groom

  • - A new camera
    - Backpacks / daypacks
    - Nice walking shoes
    - Packable rain jackets
    - Amazon Kindles (or other ebooks -- awesome for traveling)
    - Flip HD video camera
    - Multi-national travel plug adapters and travel transformer
    - Nice luggage

I think most people will realize that money makes an appropriate gift, and in this situation they will probably want to just give you cash.

If you just don't register at all majority of people with just give cash. Let a few people know (mother, siblings, MOH, etc.) know that you prefer cash and why and they will likley spread the word when people ask where you are registered or why you arn't registered anywhere. You might get a random gift here and there but will probably get mostly cash.

Enjoy your 1 year adventure with your hubby to be!!
