Anyone wearing flowy or sexy wedding gowns for beach weddings? Pics

We are having a romantic oceanfront ceremony, very private and elegant yet relaxed. I ordered this Ines di Santo wedding dress after falling in love with it the minute I saw it. I do have fears it will be too sexy vs classic but everyone who saw me in it (including Ines herself) thought this was "the one" hands down. I would never wear this for a formal wedding in NY for example but given the setting it will hopefully be nice....praying!!  I will have a cathedral length veil  to match made by Ines.  Picture below  is from the runway show and me snapping a quick photo with my phone trying it on.  Keep in mind the sample I had on was way too small (it would not close at all in the back) My dress will  not  be splitting open as much at the slit and fit better all around.  Is anyone else  wearing something like this for a beach ceremony?

Opinions welcome!

I think it is an absolutely gorgeous dress but it is a bit trendy IMO.  I think it's very appropriate for a beach wedding and not too revealing but it may be one of those dresses where you love it now but when you look back on your wedding photos in 5 years you think it looks odd.

I say if you are head over heels for it and feel amazing in it and are not too worried about a more traditional style go for it!  You'll look great!

*I just looked at the photo of you in the dress again and am wondering if the dress is sheer or see through?  If so it may be a bit much...but maybe it's just shadows in the photo making it look that way?

  • Of course the designer said it's the one; do YOU think it's the one? That's the only opinion that matters.
  • Dress by Ella Brides, wedding in Maui.  Can't wait to see it flowing in the breeze!

  • I agree with Kekr0202 - In your photo of the dress, it almost looks see thru or very sheer.  But that could be the lighting, ect.  Other than that, it is a lovely dress that looks great on you.  It is definitely appropriate for a beach wedding.

  • The pic you posted of it ON you actually looks like a LOT of extra material.. Was it just too large of a size that you tried on? I don't care for it in the pic you posted, although it could be because it's so big on you and the angle..
  • Thanks everyone, no it is not see thru but has layers of different fabrics that might be giving that illusion. I do worry about how it will photograph. Regarding the designer choosing this one-I had tried many other of her styles(some even more expensive) and other people with me as well chose it. I am concerned about the slit looking trendy but
this is a second wedding for both of us and wanted to avoid the whole
formal looking affair we both had in the past.  I am still nervous-I think we
naturally all have second thoughts after making the decision.
  • Then do it! If this is round two for weddings, why not be a litle different? It looks like if you're just standing, the slit won't show as much? Then formal pictures would look just fine. I wouldn't call the slit "trendy" as I haven't seen many gowns with it, it's just not Wedding-y... but everyone has different styles. That's kinda the fun of the modern bride. We're all so different and it's easy to get away with it because of the designs now :)

[QUOTE]It's a very pretty dress, but I'd be too afraid to wear it for an outdoor ceremony.  A little bit of wind and it may show off more than you'd like.

    <div>This totally.</div><div>
</div><div>Plus, feel free to call me a pearl-clutcher, but I think an up-to-there slit is inappropriate for a wedding.  It's not the Oscars, it's not Miss America, it's your wedding.  IMO, that dress is not classy.</div>
  • Have you checked out the maggie sotero destinations collection? There are quite a few options for the flow beach feel.
  • Mine wasn't particularly sexy or flowy, but it was a mermaid fit and it looked great in the pictures. Click the link in my siggy for the bio with pics.
