Anyone know where I can get this dress for my mama?

My mom found this gown online, but I think it's from a Chinese knockoff site (www.vampal.com). She really likes it for the wedding, but in a different color (maybe purple).

Any idea how I can find the real designer?  I'm at a loss.  TIA!

Re: Anyone know where I can get this dress for my mama?

  • Holy cow that's expensive though...I don't think she'd like either of the available colors, either. :/  However, someone on the attire board sent me a legitimate website that sells that designer (and others), and they have tons of pretty options.  I'm sure she'll find something she likes!  Also, FI's mom got a pretty plain dress...will it look weird or make her feel awkward if my mom's is a little more fancy?  She really likes the dress she bought and is very comfortable in it, and it does look really good on her.
  • Yeah, I'm sure she can find something she likes!  I think she should wear what she wants to wear and not worry about your FMIL - I don't think she should have to "dress down" if she wants to wear something a little more glamorous.  If you are worried about it, you could always show FMIL a photo of the dress your mom ends up picking out, and if she is going to feel really out of place she at least has the forewarning.

Maybe I am wrong on this, but I think that the MOB typically wears something a little more formal than MOG.

  • I for sure want both of them to wear whatever they would like.  I'm fine with FMIL's dress, I just don't want her to feel weird if she's not as dressed up as my mom...but then again, she knows her husband is wearing the same tux as my dad and the rest of the guys, so I guess she's fine with it.  I like your idea of showing her a photo of my mom's dress.
  • Yeah, that way you are putting the ball into her court - you aren't telling her how to dress or to buy a new dress, but that way she isn't going to be totally surprised when she shows up and your FMIL is dressed up a lot more than she is.  I hate showing up somewhere and being over/under dressed, but like I said if she knows ahead of time she'll either still be okay with what she is wearing or maybe think about getting something else.

If FMIL stil really likes her dress, she could always wear some statement jewelry/shoes/accessories to dress it up more.

I swear though...my mom and FMIL tried on more dresses and had a harder time picking a dress than I did!
