Etiquette.... beer and wine only ....do i include this??!

Hello!

I am having a Sunday Brunch wedding in September. We are only paying for beer and wine..... is this something I include on the invitation!?!? I don't want to be rude, but I also don't want my guests to be surprised that its not open bar.

Thanks!

  • No, do not include that on your invitation. A simple "reception to follow" is appropriate. If you want your guests to know, then do it by word of mouth.

No, I wouldn't put it on the invitation; lots of people only host a limited bar. But if you're only paying for beer and wine, that's all that should be offered -- people shouldn't have the opportunity to pull out their wallets and pay for a gin and tonic. Could you maybe host one liquor drink -- like a bloody mary since it's brunch?

  • I was planning on having details like this that aren't invitation appropriate on my wedding website which they will be suggested to look at
  • There's no need to give people notice that the bar will be limited.  Beer and wine is fine, so long as you are also offering n/a bevs.  People don't need to be warned.

But, I do think PP had a nice suggestion to add a brunch appropriate signature drink, like a bloody mary or a mimosa.
  • Thank you all very much!

I figured it wasn't appropriate to include that on the invite I just wasn't sure if it was worse not to let my guests know! I think its a great idea to do a signature drink too but I'm a budget bride and the whole reason for limiting it to beer and wine was so that everyone could drink within our budget. (we were originally going to include mimosas but my fiance recently lost his job so thats not gonna happen anymore). Hopefully our guests will be happy enough with just beer & wine.

    Thanks again ladies! =)
