Weather and Colors

Ok it is taking a lot of time and effort to convince my fiance that late Sept in this area of the country is still summer like. According to data from the NWS the avg high for this time of year is 78.5 F and the foliage here doesn't change until late October. She insists that that she can not use pastel colors for flowers and dresses for this time of year because summer "ends" on sept. 22nd. I say that is hogwash. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Re: Weather and Colors

  • No one is going to go to a wedding in september if its warm out, and go OMG those colors are too spring/summer-y, what a horrible event

If those are the colors you want to use DO IT! If it goes with the weather/venue/feel of the wedding, do it, also noone will be able to tell what time of year it is in pictures, and that is what you will have to remember in 20 years, So do whatever you want to do

  • I would remain flexible on the flower colors though. Unless you don't mind paying for a particular shade.

  • Go with whatever you want! Wedding styles are all personal preference anyway...you can't make everyone happy, but you can make yourself happy! :)

Our wedding is Spetember 29 and I am using Plum(purple) yellow and oranges. It will still be summer like here but the leaves will have changed some. And those are the colors I want! So I say, use what you want too!

  • There is nothing saying anyone has to pay attention to the seasons with colours anyway! The girls on here are using every colour under the sun from pale pinks and ivories to fall oranges and browns...
Do what fits your personalities and go from there :)
  • I'm using more spring-ish colors (lavender and sage) on 9/22 in your area. It really isn't a big deal, go with what you want!

  • You can do whatever color suits you guys, it doesnt matter the season! Were doing a pale pink, ivory, and silver/gray so it will be a rather light colored wedding and nobody has thought it was a strange combo for the timing of our wedding.

  • Thank you ladies for reinforcing my point!
  • Mine is spring colors too because we were planning a May wedding, until this September when I had to cahnge it to September. We will keep the colors because they go well with the venue colors. I don't care what the trees look like outside, we will be inside a castle. I think a bit of pink with green and white won't ruin the pictures. I thought pastels were safe colors for a wedding.
