XP: Any suggestions for Greek Isle cruises???

DH and I are looking to go on a cruise to the Greek Isles, any suggestions for cruise lines, flights or anything?  Or if any one can give me some costs...I am just starting my research and have no clue of what to expect.  Any help would be appreciated!!

TIA!!

Re: XP: Any suggestions for Greek Isle cruises???

  • We are going on the Greek Isle cruise from Royal Caribbean. They were the most in expensive and nicest ship. If you have a AAA where you live I'd go there and talk to a travel agent thats how we got ours its the easiest way

The air fare for ours isn't available yet because we are taking ours next year.
But the cruise is any where from 1000 a person - 4000 a person. And what ever you do DO NOT get a state room without a window! FMIL did this and they literally slept until 2 pm

Hope that helps! If you have any other questions you can page me on the June 2011 board, I'm on that board 99% of the time :)

    Good luck
  • Oh you are in for a treat!  The Greek Isles are my favorite place in the world.... and I am a travel agent so that says something!!!

I personally got back from my last Med. cruise in June.  Each cruise line is a little different in terms of experience.  I think each one has their own feel.  I enjoy Royal Caribbean but more for family get togethers, cruising with friends and just good times.  It has a fun, lively atmosphere.  Celebrity has some very nice ships and would do well for a honeymoon.  My favorite is Princess which is what we just took.  We did a 12 niight eastern med. cruise which started in Venice, went to quite a few Greek islands, then Turkey, and ended in Rome.  It was amazing... but exhausting.  So much to see crammed into 12 nights.  If you are looking for just a few Greek Islands try using google to find smaller cruises that are Greek owned.  Louis Cruises is one such company.  You will get to see some of the smaller islands the larger ships can't get to.  Santorini was the most breathtaking island.  So unique.  Every picture I have looks like it was cut from a postcard.

When searching for your cruise, look at itinerary first.  Make sure it is hitting the spots you REALLY want to see.  Also remember, aside the cost of your cruise you will need a hotel at least a night before and a night after the cruise as well as transportation to/from cruise terminal.   Cities like Athens, Rome and Paris are actually quite a ways from port and can be expensive to get to when taking private transportation.

Do some internet research, buy some guidebooks and have fun planning!!!!

  • I went to Crete last summer, fun but not ideal for a honeymoon. My brother and his girlfriend took a speed ferry from Crete to Santorini for the night and LOVED it. Their pics were absolutely beautiful, I wish I would have tagged along :) Just an FYI, the ferries are way different than the cruise ships, so don't get confudsed when you start looking for a boat to book.
