question/survey about invitations

Hey all,

sorry I haven't been on as much as i would like-but moving was helltastic and as always I don't get to go online during the day at work or anything like that--but i've been trying to catch up on reading through the posts.

anyhooo-

i was just wondering where everyone got their invitations and if they wouldn't mind putting a ballpark figure on how much they spent on them?  if you rather email me personally-i'm at crespo.alexis@gmail.com -i know thats sorta rude to ask-but hey thought i'd try!

i'm having a hard time picking some out-and it's really getting down to the wire here--i just can't seem to find any that I like that are not in the 1000's of dollars-and the fi is so ridiculously picky its soo annoying!

phew-got that off my chest!

TIA!

I found several we liked at www.theamericanwedding.com. You've probably already been there, but most of their stuff is pretty cheap and they let you order samples up to 5 at a time for completely free. The samples ship really fast too. Most that we were considering were about $125 for 75 invites with envelopes and $45 for 75 response cards with envelopes. Personally, this is one of the things that are on my "skimp" list. Its a piece of paper that will hang on most people's fridge for a few weeks and then get thrown away. I know alot of people make theirs too, but my printer sucks and if I can get them totally ready to go for less than $2 each, I would so rather not fool with it. Good luck!

I bought mine through costco. If you go to the costco website and go to einvite through that they are significantly cheaper than just going straight to einvite. They had a lot of really pretty choices. I think I spent like $150 for 75 invitations, reply cards with envelopes, reception cards, and lined inner envelopes. Also all their invitations come with the blotting tissue and inner and outer envelopes. They are more on the formal side and a nice weight, but they didn't cost much at all.

I got my STDs from Costco. They were nice! We did 50 cards for about $75. I am seriously considering getting my invites from there, as well. A word of caution...ORDER SAMPLES! I ordered samples of five different invites from eInvite (through Costco). Some were very cheap and disappointing (thin paper, color on only one side, white on the reverse) and others were absolutely beautiful. So there is wide variation in the quality.

I got my from Michaels we used one of their kits. They cost about $30 a box and come with 30 invites. I loved how they turned out and they were pretty easy too.  Try Party City, they were having a sle on their invitations, but its only at certain stores.

I agree, wherever you think you decide to order invites from, get a sample first! I was going to use Ann's Bridal Bargain and ordered samples, twice, and they messed up the sample order both times and I didn't think it was worth the headache, then I found the costco ones for the same price and better quality and EXCELLENT customer service. I e-mailed with them for like a week after getting my sample before ordering them!

I went to the DIY route, I bought them from Michaels,  they cost about $30 a kit and came with 30 invites. They turned out really cute, and weren't hard at all to make.

I got mine at http://www.annsbridalbargains.com/index.jsp. They always email you coupons, so I got 75 invites, response cards, purple lined inner envelopes, outer enveloppes, preaddressed return enveloppes, and colore ink for a little under $115, counting shipping. And everybody commented on how cute they were.
These are the ones I got:

I'm going the DIY route. Bought mine from Michaels, but with 50% off coupons. I ended up paying about $60 for 120 Invites (with response cards and envelopes) and 120 matching Thank You cards.

My STD magnets came from www.123print.com. They had excellent customer service, but the paper sizes were smaller than I wanted for invitations.

I got my invitations from letterpress light (she has an etsy shop).  She made a custom design for us and they turned out great.  I have a pic in my planning bio under All Things Paper.  I don't remember the price per invitation, but the cost varies depending on if she makes new letterpress plates for you or you choose a design she already has.  If you are interested, I can look up the prices when I get home.

I designed my own from cardsandpockets.com.  I got 60 pocketfold invites with a monogrammed cover, invite and three inserts for about 220.00 including cost of proof and shipping.  Unless you already own photoshop and know how to use it, I would never recommend designing your own invites.

I bought mine at Parchment in Dr. Phillips. The ladies there were awesome and while I don't remember exactly how much it was, I know it was under $500 - maybe even under $400 - for embossed invitations, reply cards, reception folders, printed return addresses, and lined self-seal envelopes.

I did mine DIY. I did 100 folded cards and 100 flat cards  5x5 square, press printed on linen paper with an embossed monogram. I think they cost me like $120 total. (Excluding postage)

I designed mine in Photoshop and just sent that file to the printer. If you can come up with a general design, I'm sure there is someone on Etsy who will be able to make it.

Oh my gosh, I'm soooo glad you posted this Alexis and that all these ladies responded!

Just this weekend I went to Sam Flax based on a few Knotties' recommendations (including AileeneG), and fell in love with Envelopments invitations (they're totally custom - a picky FI might like being able to self-design)... the only problem was that they were coming in at almost $7 an invitation including printing - with me doing all the artwork and layouts!  I was so bummed, but then I looked at a few sites in this post including the one by Theresa626 about Cards and Pockets (www.cardsandpockets.com), and it looks almost identical to the Envelopments invites I wanted but at closer to $3 per invitation, and I can print them myself!

    *happy dance*

Thanks for saving the day for me!!  I hope you got help too Alexis!
