Bridal Shower on Birthday

One of my BM's has graciously offered to host a bridal shower for me. We were looking at dates and one of the best dates for both of us happens to be on my birthday. I feel kind of weird about having my shower on my birthday. I don't want close friends and family thinking they need to bring me two gifts (one shower gift and one birthday gift). I know we could just completely downplay/ignore the birthday aspect but I know someone will bring it up.  Would it be strange for my shower to be on my birthday or am I just overly sensitive about it?

    Will people know it is your birthday?  I know most my friends/family know the month of my birthday but not the date.

    I would say to have and not even mention that it is your birthday.

    If people know it's your birthday, considering birthdays are on FB and people actually pay attention to that, you could always have the hostess do something like, 

    This year, for BFM's birthday, we're going to throw her a wedding shower! Please join us for birthday and shower games

    Ok, my wording sucked, but you get the idea. The people would understand the shower gift IS the birthday gift, KWIM?

    Unless I normally bought you gifts for your birthday, I wouldn't feel the need to get you a birthday gift if your shower was the same day.  I would make no mention of it ahead of time.  Some people might know, and some might see it on Facebook that day.  If people mention it at the shower, or your cake says congrats and happy birthday, no big deal.

    my shower was on my birthday in june. some close friends knew it was my birthday but it was not wierd at all. I got to see all the people closest to me and have a party but the shower was the reason not my birthday. I got some birthday wishes and some people found out it was my birthday at the event but we didn't play it up and no one brought birthday gifts.

    Thanks for your help ladies. As it turns out, it looks like it won't be an issue anyways. My mom is offering to help but thinks a shower several weeks later would be better anyway.
