deacon question

We are planning on having a deacon do our wedding ceremony, so originally we weren't going to have communion. Our deacon told us that we could still have communion without a priest present, just that the host would need to be prepared ahead of time by a priest. Has anyone done this for their wedding or been to a wedding where the host was already prepared? Would this still be considered a marriage mass?

    I played music for one. It's generally called a "Communion Service".  

    It is not a mass (what makes a mass is the consecration of the bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ by the Priest). 

    The deacon will see to it that enough hosts are consecrated at a previous mass for people to receive at your wedding. But, if you're going to do that, why not just have a mass and get a priest to celebrate?
