Venting LOL

Hello Ladies,

The FI and I are trying to make the guest list about 30 guest but everyday I have people calling telling me their family decided to take a vacation to come to the wedding.  I don’t want to be rude but I never invited them in the first place.  How do I tell them thanks but we are trying to keep the wedding only for the closest family members?

You sure were not kidding about prices adding up fast LOL I feel like I’m paying to breathe literally.  I was looking into the estimate and I just started laughing really $120 for ice

Re: Venting LOL

  • Emmy, are you planning on having an at home reception? If so you might want to tell them that you are just having immediate family and a few close friends in HI but that you will be celebrating when you get home. If no AHR then still tell them that it is just for close family and friends.
  • You'll definitely have to be straight-forward and tell them close family (and friends) only. I know it's hard, but it has to be done.

For me, sometimes I mention to friends friends that they can hang out during wedding week, but can't attend the wedding...they are very understanding and know where I'm coming from...

  • I agree with PP - be straight forward.  We weren't and we are paying (literally) now.  Our guest list got way too out of hand.  Just stay where you are comfortable and don't let people pressure you into inviting them.  Maybe just tell them that it's family and very close friends only (or that the venue is very strict on numbers.....nobody questions that!)
