WR: Talk to me about...

card boxes.  Ideas? Thoughts?

I'm looking around for ideas but nothing has struck me yet.  Bio has just been updated if you want to know what we're going for...

Question! What is a card box?

  • edited December 2011
I have heard of people using bird cages.  Going off of your cake inspiration you can probably find an old metal birdcage that has uneven bars and paint it black.  I am not sure how well they are at holding cards in though.

I've never quite understood card boxes, but I think its because its not something we really do in NZ - people bring cards with their gifts, but they usually just stay attached to the gifts until they are opened after the wedding.

That said, I have seen some gorgeous ones on people's pages. I love the bird cages, and I love this vintage suitcase idea:

And this photo frame-lazy susan combo:

A bird cage might be cool....

I like your Audgie! I dunno if it would match what I'm thinking but it's really nice

The only thing I can really think of is a bird cage - and you could spray paint it whatever colour you want to match. My creativity is at a negative zero today :(

Etsy has a ton! And if you don't want to pay for it, they are always good inspiration. I am sure your local craft store has a mix of sizes and shapes.

My original plan was to find plain boxes and wrap them in fabric or paper, but then I found these boxes at Ross (or TJ Maxx? I don't remember) that matched my colors. Then all I did was cut the bottoms, attach them together, cut the slot on top and put the "Cards" label on it. The flaps were magnetic, but I also glued down the bottom two and put a little bit of double-sided tape on the top one for a little bit of extra security.

I have to run my ideas by FI but was considering using either a birdcage or a vintage suitcase or hat box.

I like the magic sideways pomodors.

I have no card box advice other than search esty and see what you like. I also like the lazy susan with the pictures. You could jazz it up with white frames and some red/yellow daisies.

I have cardbox if decide you want to go with an actual box. All you would have to do is take off the ribbon and label and do what you want with it. There's a pic of it in my planning profile. It's not like I'm going to use it again. :)

We used a birdcage. We borrowed it from a friend!

I like the little suitcase. You could just get a big vase or piece of pottery for your house and use that too. Put a ribbon on it and it'll look awwwl fancy

I'm a bum and threw all the cards in a basket. I think it was the newspaper basket from the house.

I ordered one from Etsy.  It will be red with black ribbon.  It hasn't come yet.  I won't recommend the lady I got mine from because she is behind schedule.  Thankfully I still have a lot of time yet.
