New York-Hudson Valley

Venue suggestions???

I'm looking into venues for a summer wedding. I want a small wedding (75-100 guests) and have budget concerns. Hoping for suggestions!

Re: Venue suggestions???

  • What side of the river do you prefer?

Over on 9D on the boarder of beacon and Coldspring is a small venue called Chalet on the Hudson. It over looks the Hudson River with beautiful Mountain Views. They only do one event at a time as well.

    Hope that helps

  • Thanks! I will have to check that out! I have several relatives that live in Rockland County and some in Westchester, so I am leaning towards the west side of the Hudson. So far, I have talked to Nyack Seaport and The View on the Hudson. I have a call into Hudson Water Club in Havestraw. Haven't really branched beyond Rockland just yet!

Do you have pricing info for Nyack Seaport & The View on the Hudson? Also did you get any info on Hudson Water Club?

Patriot Hills in Stony Point is one place I know works with budgets... a friend just had a wedding there Oct of 2011 for $85/pp. Not much cocktail hour food, but the dinner was good.

The 2 places I looked at so far don't exactly work with a budget that I know of. The Old Tappan Manor is $105/pp Fri nights with 140 guests min. $120/pp Sat night with 180 guests min. Ceremony fee $500. Pearl River Hotel- Fridays $145/pp but this includes the service charges & a few extra perks (the other prices do not reflect service charges) & I think the minimum # of guests is 120. Ceremony fee $700 (includes 30 min champagne mingle upon guest arrival right before ceremony)... Neither are exactly budget friendly, but we didn't ask if they would lower the rates if we took some things (food, etc) out of the package, which we may inquire about.

    Any info on the places you've seen is appreciated! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />
  • I got married at the Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain last November.  Our families loved the food and the venue. We were lucky to get really brilliant fall weather and foliage that weekend.

The prices are really reasonable and the food is delicious!  Better than you would expect for the price.  People raved!

The wedding coordinator, Ann Marie, is wonderful and really on top of her game.  The only thing they need to improve is the room reservation process.  We did experience some problems there.  But if I had it to do again, I would still choose this venue.  We loved it.
  • JNwedding31--just saw this!

Nyack Seaport started at $75/plate (for a Friday evening I believe) and seemed to be averaged at $90/plate. They are doing some construction outside the venue and while I liked the hall, I didn't like the clutterness of outside. The View prefers you to have 150 people, and the price range was $80-125, I forget what we were quoted for 100 people, maybe started at $100? But they made it quite clear they were not interested in our desire to have a small, afternoon wedding. We didn't really get into Hudson Water Club since they will still have random customers coming/going, it's non-exclusive, plus the tables are rectangular, lol!

Other than that-we checked out New York Country Club ($85-125) and Westchester Manor (started at $65). I wasn't crazy about Westchester Manor and thought the Country Club was very nice.

We decided on Patriot Hills and I don't know about your experience but the package we chose comes with a lot for cocktail hour-butlered hors d'Oeuvres, hot dishes and display stations (cheese!!!!) Plus 5 hour open bar. They were having an amazing sale this past week which he gratefully took advantage of! So excited. I live in Stony Point, getting married at a Church there, so PH was just an easy choice!
