Creative Ideas Needed!

So my wedding is in a week and a half...and my party bus driver just bailed on us.

We have a wedding party of 16, but I'm wanting something that will seat around 30, which is why we had settled on the party bus because I have alot of close friends that aren't within the wedding party. I'm not willing to settle for something that will only hold my wedding party.

However, we live in a rural area so there's no rental companies around here, not for limos, not for party buses (the one we were going to use is just a school bus that he's moved the seats around in), nothing like that.

Anyone have creative advice? We've talked about doing something just with a hay trailer and making it almost into a float but I wanted to see if anyone could offer me up any advice. Thanks!

  • School Bus.  Seriously.  They are big and cheap.

  • School bus? Hay rides? WHAT!!!!
maybe we need to know a lil about your venue and theme of your wedding....

Cuz IMO it all sounds a LOT cheap and sketchy. Why do you need this anyway? transportation to?
  • Where I'm from we go drive around during the reception for like an hour on a party bus or something. It's just tradition for my fiance's hometown.

& I don't think a hay ride or a school bus either one sounds 'cheap and sketchy'. My wedding itself is very classic, simple, and elegant, but it's also at my parents' pond. You call it 'cheap and sketchy', I call it 'affordable and country'. Think before you type.

  •   It doesn't sound like wedding transportation. It sounds like a school field trip. That is just my honest opinion. Plus, it is VERY rude to just leave your reception for an hour. You have guests and unless they are all included you need to stay with them.

    Way to judge.

    Hayrides can be pretty

  • I don't think that leaving for an hour after the ceremony to take a ride or whatever traditions is, is any different from weddings where they leave for an hour afterward to take pictures... it's the same thing.  It just gives the guests time to mingle with one another at a cocktail hour.  And I don't have any other ideas other than the two you mentioned seeing as I'm not from your town.  I personally like the hay ride idea myself.  I always think they're fun!  Maybe you could get better feedback on the local board?

  • Wow, these other ladies need to chill!  I think it's a cute tradition.  We're doing a school bus ourselves between the venue and the hotels.  You may want to post on your regional board to see if any other ladies have found other local transporation options.  I think hay ride sounds kinda fun though.

  • A hayride sounds pretty especially is your wedding is in the fall season.  I don't see anything wrong with leaving for an hour.  My cousin had a trolley for her WP and they stopped at a few bars before going to the reception.  She let the guests eat first before the party got there and everything turned out just fine.  No one cared that they showed up an hour later.

It's your wedding do what you want and don't worry about what others think.

  • Who cares what you ride in?! It's the ceremony and reception that count!
I think a hayride is nice for casual weddings that are fun and outside?
I'd go for that, it probably would be cheaper than a school bus even.

  • I think the hayride idea is adorable for an outdoor country wedding.  It's creative and fits in with a country theme.  :)

Where I come from, the wedding party always goes for a ride between the ceremony and reception, honking their horns in celebration all over town.  It is a fun tradition and I hope you and your future hubby find a fun solution.

</div><div>So sorry to hear this is happening so close to your wedding date.  Have you found an alternative yet?  If not, try contacting the transportation company I'm using they are helping me with wedding day transportation and our transportation for our honeymoon out of state...maybe they know someone near you that can help. </div><div><a href="http://coastalcar.com/home.aspx">http://coastalcar.com/home.aspx</a>

  • I would go with a school bus, just because I'm crazy allergic to Hay :)
  • I'll be using a school bus for mine, but that's because my FI and I met on one in Junior High.
