Getting in Shape

TMI question, sorry

I need to whip my butt back into shape after slacking off during the holidays!  My only time to exercise is in the AM (I work 10-10 with an hour commute).  That would be fine, except for one sticking point- I work out and I sweat.  I have no problem taking a quick shower, but there's still the hair issue.  I only wash my hair 2x a week to keep it healthy and because when I do wash it it needs 45 mins to air dry before I blow it dry for 10 minutes.  That I don't have time for.

I don't want to go to work with gross smelly hair :(  I got the Oscar Blondi dry shampoo, which smells fresh and lemony, so I'm hoping that will help but I am very open to any suggestions.  I keep using this as an excuse not to work out and its coming down to the wire losing this weight!

Re: TMI question, sorry

  • I sweat a lot as well and I try not to "wash" my hair often but if working out is what you truly want to do you WILL find a way regardless.  The waterless shampoo might work well for you.  I personally don't use any but I know friends that do.  In all honesty though, health>hair IMO.

I usually just end up washing my hair.  I don't typically style my hair so letting it air dry works just fine for me.  Sometimes if my hair is starting to look dry from all of the washing I usually end up doing a day of running (Wash hair) and the next day lift...then I wont have to wash my hair until the following day when I run again because I don't sweat buckets lifting.  I rarely follow that schedule, but I have done that.
  • When I don't have time to dry my hair, I usually just french braid it while it's wet.  Or sometimes I put it in a bun while it's wet.  I have a ton of hair, so finding time to dry it properly is hard during a workout day.

  • I only wash my hair 3x/week. I use Tresemme dry shampoo or just wear my hair up to work when I work out in the mornings.  The dry shampoo works great for me, but it makes my hair a little bit static.  It makes my hair smell great actually.

  • I hate the smell of the Tresemme dry shampoo, ha.

When I'm going to be working out and not drying my hair, I use a wicking headband (like a BondiBand)over part of my forehead and my hairline.  That helps.

That's where I get gross and sweaty!  I need one of those.  Can you just buy them at any sporting goods store?
  • Nope, they're an online thing.

I love them, they're worth the price.  They actually stay on my head too.  ANd you can use them flattened out, or fold/roll/scrunch them to make them smaller.

You  might want to play around to see if it helps more jsut forward of your hairline, or actually over some hair, etc.  It flattens mine out a bit, but normally the steam from the shower helps take care of any bumps or lumps.  If not, I just spray it with a little hairspray, comb through, and hit it with the dryer for about 10 seconds to smooth things out.

  • for the hair, 2 words: baby powder.  the cornstarch soaks up oil and  makes your hair smell fresh.  if you have blonde hair, it also makes your roots look lighter in between highlights.
