Wedding Planner Cost

I am a little bit surprised with the price I was charged for a professional wedding planner would like to know if someone could let me know how much it's an average cost for this service in Iowa and what this usually includes. I need to make this decision as soon as possible and would greatly appreciate your help girls. Thanks!

I as well thought about going with Cloud 9, but decided against a wedding planner all together. However, I thought her pricing was great!!
Who did you originally talk to?

We looked at cloud 9 also, but went with Cynthia Betts because she is doing our flowers so we are getting 1/2 off her doc price, which was $1100 I believe.

I guess I should clarify... $1100 was her before discount price.  We went with Cynthia also because I felt like she really got what I wanted for the day.  I would highly recommend her.

Well I was prepared for something as listed in the Cloud 9 website that is reasonable - I am talking about the most expensive package, but $1900 for a wedding planner in a little city west of Des Moines with most of the decisions made up and contracts down, I think it's too much. I already had the reception, and ceremony places under contract, the photographer, the DJ, the florist, and the cake. Had hotel blocked, rehearsal dinner reserved, hair saloon and make up lined up all by myself with such great suggestions and referrals from some local knoties.. My big needs were transportation (not included) and Reception set up (their linens) some furniture rental (great price) and the Day of Coordinator. Also asked for a suggestion for a place to have a light brunch with my bridesmaid. Don't you girls think that's too much???

That does seem a little high.

What all furniture were you renting? Can you buy linens that are cheaper? Then have the DOC put them on?

It's too bad you live in DC we could do DOC for each others weddings! (I heard people in Chicago do this a lot)

Medusia, you gave me a great idea. I'll do it definitively; I need to have a wedding planner, but I want to pay the right price and not an inflated one.
I am renting a sofa, two benchs, two otomans and some coffee tables to make a lounge so people can hang around and don't have to be seated at the tables all the time (Like in Miami Beach lounges).
I am thinking about to buy the linens because that was I did for my son's wedding and it was pretty cheap.
I loved the idea to be each other DOC - I was a event/wedding planner for over 10 years in Europe!!! Too bad that I live so far....Frown

    That would be a blast!!

I would say check out http://www.linentablecloth.com They usually have really good deals.

HTH, and if it comes down to it I'll do your DOC if you can't find a good one with the right price!!

Thanks a lot Medusia! I already talked to them, and they asked me for about a week to get back to me with some other numbers. If it doesn't work, I'll definitively accept your offer and we can discuss numbers by then once I can't do the same for you!
