Rough timeline for invitations, etc.

I am such a planner so today I got to thinking about the timeline for the wedding events and sending invitations, etc..

So here is what I'm thinking. Tell me what seems right and what might sound off.

Our wedding is March 31 2012.

These are all approximate:
September 1, 2011: send out STD's
November 15, 2011: send out bridal shower invitations
January 1st, 2012: send out wedding invitations
January 29, 2012: bridal shower
March 17, 2012: bachelorette party
 
I'm trying to keep invitations away from Christmas so that it doesn't overwhelm anyone thinking "I just got past paying for Christmas and now I have to give money for a wedding", although I realize this is me thinking negatively Undecided. Also, where I live, most people send all invitations at LEAST 3 months in advance of the event.

What do you think of this timeline?

    Think of a shower as a birthday party or baby shower. Usually two weeks before the event is ample time to send out the event and get responses. Showers are more informal than a wedding and require less preparation. But everything else seems pretty doable.
