Canceling contracts

So, due to my change in wedding plans I am canceling my contracts with a couple of my vendors. There is one particular vendor that I would have kept on, had I not had problems contacting them. I have been leaving messages and emailing them for a month now, and have not heard back. I finally left a message that I am canceling with them. I emailed them that I am canceling and I have now faxed them a cancelation notice.

Do you all think that is good enough? How do you cancel with someone you can't get ahold of?

Re: Canceling contracts

  • That is crazy that it's taking so long to get ahold of someone. If you don't hear anything in a few days you need to stop by their office (if they have one). Make sure you get something in writing confirming it has been cancelled.

  • I would read the contract - it may have some language regarding cancellation and you'll want to make sure you comply. Also, I would mail a copy of the contract along with a cancellation notice by certified mail so someone has to sign for it

  • I've even posted on their facebook page - sometimes that helps getting a response
