buying gowns online. BEWARE!

I recently started searching for gowns online cause I have been thinking about buying my gown online, I understand there are many like me who would consider buying gowns online, I just figured it would be a great idea to share the following two sites you guys might find helpful, these are not gown sites, but the sites below will help us find the BAD ones that you might wanna stay away from.
http://www.complaintsboard.com or http://www.pissedconsumer.com
And if you have any info regarding buying gowns online that you think will be helpful to all of us, please share it as well.
Thanks

Re: buying gowns online. BEWARE!

  • There is a FAQ sticky for this board which contains sites that sell knock-offs.

If you're buying online you're best to go with Pearls Place or House of Brides. They're both AUTHORIZED resellers and not in China.

  • I totally agree and have a huge love of Pearlsplace.com.  My cousin tried House of Brides and was not pleased.  A friend tried maids at Netbride and they were ok, but everyone I know praised Pearl's Place.  I was at one of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans the other night and they had a son just returned from Iraq with a fast wedding.  His bride just ordered from Pearl's Place and they were getting the dress and maids in less than a month, which is amazing.
  • Their prices are way outta my range tho. Thanks for the suggestions!
  • House of Brides is AWFUL.  Don't do it.
  • If you are looking for less expensive dresses, check out the second-hand classifieds on The Knot, Weddingbee, or places like preownedweddingdress.com. Also, David's Bridal has $99 sales every so often.

If that still isn't rocking your boat, check out department stores and evening gowns. With prom season rolling around, they'll start stocking up on their formal gowns.

Last, a word of advice- my friend, with a REALLY tight budget, tried a knock-off site. She hates the dress and is out $200. She's trying to resell it, but is having trouble.

    Just food for thought!

Mybigfatbeautifulwedding.com all their dresses are made by them and they show you their work!! Including videos and some of real brides at their weddings wearing the dress. And all online reviews I've found have been great. Their dresses are beautiful and all are under $500.

That's why I was weary about online dresses at first because none of the sites show you their work, they just have model photos.
  • I appreciated all your input, I'm also having a site in mind as they do show off their work, the custom gowns they have put together and the gown photos of their own as well as video stuff on their FB page
If you check out their photo album there, there are a ton.
I honestly think highly of this site as they are totally different than any other gown site I have seen so far.  If there is anyone who has heard of it or has had experience with it, LET ME KNOW. BIG THANKS!
