heels to flats

Hi ladies! The shoes I am wearing for my reception are super high! They are the jimmy choo 5 inch platform peep toes! While they are my prized possession and oh so fabulous and surprisingly comfy - after taking hours of pictures and standing in place for 25 min for the ceremony and the cocktail hour, I am sure my tootsies will need a break. I want to change into flats, but my mom brought up a great point that my dress will be hemmed to the heels and once i change into my flats the dress will be too long. How have some of you dealt with this and how do the rest of you plan on dealing with this issue? thanks!!!

I also have high heels (4 and 3 quarter inch) so I bought a pair of shoes from The Lovely Bride. The website is www.thelovelybride.com. Some girls get wedges.

I wore flats the whole day and was very happy. I have to be honest, the only time my feet were seen was during my first dance. I had blue shoes and I really liked them. My feet, so then in turn I, was happy.

I had 4.5 inch heels. I wore them from 1pm until about 9pm. While they were comfy, my feet definitely needed a break (especially when dancing). I switched to a flat pair of old navy flip flops. I held the dress up and it miraculously didn't get really dirty and didn't get very stepped-on. You should have no trouble with some slight wedges or something like that.

I will have the same issue. I bought white 3" flip flops at DSW sort of like this:

except instead of gradually getting higher they are a flat 3" high. When I was in a bridal salon a girl was there for alterations and she had really cute flip flops from Victoria's Secret that she said were comfy and had some height. I think they were these:

While neither option is a 100% fix to me having a little height on the flips will be better than going from 4" to flat.

i got wedge flip flops that were a little lower than my heels, but i didnt care that the dress was a bit long, I was too busy dancing to worry about it

And this is exactly why I'm having mine hemmed with no shoes on :-P Plus I actually want my shoes to show a little when I have them on because they're gonna be purple and fabulous! To be honest, I never understood why dresses are hemmed so that they sit right on the floor - I like mine to be a few inches off the ground. But that's just me. :-P
