Sunday weddings?

Does anyone have any experience with Sunday weddings?  We are thinking about the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, maybe?  Any thoughts?

We are having a Sunday wedding (Sunday of July 4th weekend). Since most people will have Monday off, I think it works just as well as a Saturday. A lot of places provide discounts if you have your event on a Sunday. Unfortunately, sometimes those discounts don't apply to holiday weekends.

We are having ours the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, 9/4/2011.  Everything seems to be pretty standard, since it is a holiday weekend they treat it the same as a Friday or Saturday wedding.  The only thing we have gotten a discount on so far is the limo.

we had a Sunday wedding but, it wasn't over a holiday weekend. We did get a discount for our reception venue but that was it.

I think sometimes it saves you money, sometimes it doesn't.  Keep in mind as far as your hair and makeup, most salons don't open until noon on Sunday.  I had two friends get married the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and both had trouble finding MUAs and hair stylists for their wedding parties.

Oh, also if you decide to go with Labor Day weekend, I would send out a Save the Date soon.  You need to give your guests plenty of notice.  Lots of people have set plans for holiday weekends and they'll need the time to make arrangements to be at your wedding instead.  The more time you give them, the better your attendance will be.

I have been to a few Sunday weddings. They were over Memorial Day weekend.   I had a great time, and I understand from the brides that they got lots of discounts still.

    Congratulations!! Happy Planning!

I love the idea of a Sunday wedding, I originally considered it, the common misconception is how much money it will save you!  I found that the venue did discount the price on Sunday because otherwise their venue might have sat empty, but other services are offering the same service and just as much work, so they didn't discount their prices.  But, I still think in general the common wedding areas and photo areas will be less crowded on a non-Saturday!  Happy Planning

I'm planning our wedding for the sunday of Memorial Day weekend 2012.  No discounts so far, but it'll be an extra travel day for our out of town guests.  I saw quite a few venues in my research that offered Sunday wedding discounts, but most didn't include holiday weekends.

    Good luck!
