Question about Fonts

Are you using the same font on your invites as you did on the Save the Date?  I'm thinking it would create some consistency as well as less decisions to make but I don't want to lack in creativity either.  Besides Save the Dates and invites (both DIY) I have reserved signs, a sign mentioning that wine will be served during dinner but the bar is closed, and other random things.  The invites will have some sort of calligraphy looking font for our names and a small caps font for everything else.  Should I use just these two on everything?  Seems like such a stupid thing to stress about but when you do things from scratch decisions have to be made on everything!  What are you doing?

Re: Question about Fonts

  • A lot of STD's are MUCH less formal than invites, so I'll bet most people don't. Our STD was included in the Merry HOHOHO message so we are definitely NOT using the same font lol

As for everything else, I am using the same font or font family, same style and same "flow". Depending on the style of wedding, I think it's important.

I agree!  We are sending supobena's for our STD's (my FI is a cop) and they are formal looking bc we want them to look official.  As for the rest- invites, programs, escort cards, napkins, etc we are using the same font.
  • I agree with PP. Our STD was our names carved in the side of a tree and then I believe the info was just Times Roman or something simple. Our invites will be MUCH more formal and probably won't even have the same theme/color nevermind font.
  • I wont be.  Out STDs were magnets from magnetstreet.com.  The STDs were created in shades that will be in the wedding (pewter/yellow) and had some "cursivey" font.  I found someone that can design invites and she has ones that are in the same color as the STDs.  Basically, I'm making mine cohesive through color and not necessarily font (even though the invite will be in "cursivey" font as well but not matching).
  • i'm using similar fonts but not the exact same. for example, my invites used a font that was small caps, and the normal printing on my invites will also be in small caps.

for continuity, i am using the same image on my save the dates as my invites, a pair of birds.

  • We'll most likely use a similar font but not necessarily the exact same one.

  • Our wedding is very formal so our STDs and invitations are pretty fancy and do match to try to indicate the formality to our guets.
