AW centerpieces pip

This is my tall centerpieces for 1/2 the tables. 1 pkg black floral gel (4L), 1 manzinita branch bought on kijiji (still to be spray painted pewter or black, opinions?), 4 artificial hydrenga (will use real ones), 4 orchid flowers (removed from a stem bought at wal-mart) and the vase bought for $10. Total cost per centerpiece about $40.

For the other 1/2 of the tables it will be cylinder vase trios (tall, medium, short that I am renting) and a bigger floating candle. Total cost for this will be about $14/table of 3 vases

These small bud vases will be use on the bar, head table, and possibly cake/candy table. The huge church arrangements will be used on the guestbook /escort card table and the gift table.

One stem of these large orchids was $6 at wal-mart and by taking them off the stem the flowers went a lot further. The most expensive part of this will be the hydrenga but thankfully I have found an online wholesale for $3.33/stem versus the $10/stem the florist was going to charge.

Re: AW centerpieces pip

  • I absolutely LOVE those tall centerpieces. The combo of orchid and hydrangea is not one that I would have thought of but it definitely looks great together. It gives a romantic vibe -- gorgeous. I also love the other centerpiece that you developed. The smaller piece doesnt totally grab me. I think maybe using black stones may make it look as sophisticated as the centerpiece options? What are your wedding colors if I may ask?

Overall -- I LOVE the centerpieces. AWESOME job!!

  • Thank you! We're using an eggplant purple and black with hints of ivory. I really only picked hydrenga because it's a huge and easy to work with flower.

The short one was a vase from a gf's wedding where she gave the centerpieces away and I had an extra flower so I thought I would try something. I'll give it a shot with the black gel beads and see.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

  • No problem! And I think those centerpieces look good with your colors -- I think they would look great either in black or pewter. Keep us updated on what you end up doing!

  • They look great! I agree with PP, I think if you try the black stones in the smallest one it may make it fit everything better.
  • I also love the mix of the tall ones and the shorter ones. I agree with the others about changing the rock colors. Pewter would look great!
