Alterations

Hi everyone!

I am getting married on October 15 of this year.  Does any know how far in advance I should schedule an alterations appointment?  Also, anyone have good reviews on a place in or around Woburn, MA?  Thanks!

Fay Carraher in Billerica is *amazing*!!  She is super nice, did a great job on my dress and is very reasonably priced!  However, i know she has been getting very popular and is now booking 6-12 months in advance.  I'd get someone lined up asap!

Determining the date of your first fitting depends if you think you're body will change at all over the next few months.  If you think you'll be the same between now and the wedding then you can def. get started on alterations but if you're planning on losing weight I'd wait until at least the end of the summer.

I'd at least figure out where you're going to be taking your dress for alterations and make sure you get booked.  It is true that some people book up, however there are still a lot of fabulous seamstresses in the area that are available even a few months out from your wedding.

I got married Oct. 9 last year and started my alterations the first week of Aug. I moved it up slightly because that was when my mom and MIL were in town, but it seemed like a reasonable amount of time. Book your first appointment early, though, to make sure you can get in with whatever seamstress you are going to. Oh, and I knew I wasn't going to fluctuate too much in weight.

I went to Chris O'Hare in Quincy and would recommend.

I recommend Rosa DelSonno in Peabody.  She's great and super reasonable.

My wedding is on 6/25, and I had my first fitting on 5/14.  I called in March to make the appointment, though.  I don't have any recommendations for a seamstress in your area.

Queen Dressmaker in Cambridge, MA!!! Check her out on Yelp :)  She's amazing and affordable. I'd book an appointment for the beginning of August, it all depends on the amount of alterations your dress requires and the best person to make that determination would be the seamstress....make an appointment, take your dress, and let her decide when to start snipping and stitching :)
