Where to get married.....PLEASE HELP?!?!?!

If there is anyone out there reading this I would appreciate any ideas you may have. I am looking to get married next July or August. I am trying to do this spending as little as possible. I would love more than anything to get married outside on the lake or the ocean somewhere but everything I find online is outrageous. The views are breathtaking but I just can't afford to book these Inn's I have come across. I don't necessarily have to have my reception at the same spot but that is my ideal location for exchanging vows. I have been to Hacker's Hill in Casco and that was amazing. Does anyone know how to go about getting married there? I want an outdoor reception as well but I want to supply my own alcohol and food. Everything I am coming across doesn't allow that. I am open to any an all ideas. Please help me.................................

I'm not going to vote cause the best place for you to get married is different then my best place to get married! However, getting married on the ocean will cost much more unless you know someone who owns beach front. I'd check with parks (not state parks as they have a lot of rules and regulations) but town parks. Usually there is a small fee if any.

Check out a place called Craignair Inn.  It is a gorgeous, quaint spot on the ocean and I'm pretty sure they are reasonable.  Keep us posted and good luck!

We are renting a private home and having our event there. We could have provided our own food and alcohol, but we are hiring a caterer.  The home we are renting is pretty pricey but there are TONS of homes up in the Bethel/Newry area which is where we are going. Check out that as a possible option maybe.

I'm getting married at Fort Popham, on the ocean, in Phippsburg, and it is free to have the ceremony there. We are having the reception at a different venue because you cannot consume alcohol at state parks.

I wanted the exact same thing and sort of decided that I wasn't going to be able to do it on my budget, I think Chrispygal has the right idea going. you could try some campground type- resorts too? we were going to look into Papoose Pond (we camp there every year) they have a beautiful beach area on the lake for a ceremony and you could rent the Rec hall for a reception. it would have more of a rustic feel Vs. an elegant setting, so depending on what your looking for, it might work! alot of campgrounds have set ups like this. Good Luck!

Don't mean to thread-jack, but we (my closest girl-friends) camp there every year too.  Well, only for the past two years, but it's becoming an annual thing!

the only place i know that will allow you to bring in alcohol is Camp Ketcha in scarborough. It is not on the ocean or a lake but they have a beatiful outdoor setting and the reception location is beatiful too

You have plenty of time to do research so relax. Ask everyone that you can for suggestions and think about places that arnt advertising as 'wedding' locations.

I second the private home rental.  Much like chrispygirl, we're hiring a cater and providing our own alcohol.  We're renting a huge house on Westport Island for the week.  Our ceremony is going to be at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.  Depending on the area you pick, a private home rental may be the way to go.  It can be as pricy or as inexpensive as you want it to be.  Good luck and keep us posted!
