Snarky Brides

Did you ever figure out why the nest won't let you on during the day?

Re: Jens

  • Sorry I didn't see this before!

I don't know, I can get on both the knot and the bump boards, and I can get onto the nest website, but not the nest boards. It is driving me batty. I'm assuming it's flagged for some kind of explicit content, and since my office is in a school, that's why it's blocking it.

I tried some suggestions Mod made a while back, with proxies and whatnot-- but the security here is pretty much bulletproof. Apparently protecting the minds of our youth means keeping me from friendship and laughter and sisterhood.
  • Booo I say. Hopefully, we can move back here sometime soon. Lord knows, we are needed.

  • Also, how are you feeling? I'd ask you more often, but you're just so obnoxious about your pregnancy all the time.

Dude. I just finished reading the "Married Knotties?" thread a few minutes ago, and I was weeping inside. We can't let it end like this.

<div>I know, right? Things are actually really good right now. Once I made it out of the 1st tri, it's been smooth sailing. I'm getting dangerously close to the 3rd tri where supposedly I'll starting getting all huge and uncomfortable. Now, we're having fun decorating and shopping. </div>

  • Aw, that's good to hear. I've heard from some that third tri sucks, but have also heard from many that you feel awesome, except when you get too uncomfortable close to the end. Have you got bedding yet?

You should entertain me by showing me things you have purchased, or bedding/decor you are considering. Just try not to be too obnoxious about it.
  • We haven't ordered it yet, but we're definitely getting this.

We went antiquing this weekend and found an awesome old dresser for $150. I'm going to paint it, put new knobs on it and use it as his dresser/changing table because it's long enough to put a changing pad and baskets for diapers/wipes/etc.

Once the bedding comes in, we're going to paint the room, and I can start figuring out decorations. I think I'm going to paint a mural/canvas to go over the crib. Next weekend, we're going crib shopping and registering. I can't believe we're 4 months out now.

It's super fun, but I really do try not to talk about too much because I don't want to be one of those people.

  • Pff, I like "those people". Especially when they are you.

The wee elephants are slaying me-- that bedding is gorgeous.

What color are you going to do the walls? I love the mural/canvas idea, are you going to stick with the elephant theme?

You should take before and after pics of the dresser.
  • The walls are already a yellow beige color, but we had a two foot navy blue border around the top. I think we are going to leave the beige, and paint a green to match the bedding over the blue. I am contemplating stenciling one or two elephants up there too but not more than that because I don't want it overly matchy.

I think for the mural I'm going to paint his name and maybe some other jungly things like leaves and vines. I'm not entirely certain about that yet. The curtains and comforter on the twin bed that will be staying in the room will just be dark brown, so it should all work together. At least, it works in my head.

  • I was just perusing all of the wee elephant accessories you can get with the bedding. It would be so hard to not be matchy, it's all so friggin cute.

Your setup looks good in my head too. I'm sure you guys will thank the heavens for that twin bed when the late nights come.

What color are you going to do the furniture? Are you going to try to coordinate or do mix and match antiques?
  • I think it will depend on the crib we decide on. I don't like white furniture, so I'm guessing we'll just paint the dresser some sort of brown that is close to whatever crib we get. I do not have the energy to attempt to strip it and stain it. Paint will be just fine. I like stuff that goes together but doesn't necessarily match. It's the quirky artist in me.

  • Boo. I forgot that bios are all gone. I can't look at her pictures.
