so mallory has a friend who is pregnant. please keep in mind, mallory is 15 so her friend would be too. i was clutching my pearls the whole time, yo.
anyhoo, the baby daddy sounds like a real winner. and then he is never mentioned again. WTF. i was mad, y'all. that dude would have been dragged out of his bed by his ear.
mallory and pregnant cindy decide that the best thing they should do is tell mom. mom is all "tell YOUR mom" and cindy is all "i can't do that." okay, but she's going to find out one way or the other. btw, cindy only has her mom -- no dad, no siblings. so it's going to be pretty obvio pretty fast, especially considering cindy is wearing some skin-tight gloria vanderbilts, a plaid button down with a ribbon tied around the neck (i had the same outfit, cindy. without the pregnant part).
the whole house is in an uproar over pregnant cindy. cindy gets home and tells mom and they get into a giganto fight. cindy then leaves. mallory finds out and blames elyse for the fight. really? who cares about the fight? it's not like cindy's going to get any less pregnant by fighting.
they actually say the word "abortion" which was a majeur pearl clutch for me. i can't believe this show actually brought it up. wow. but then again, family ties was a "very special episode" kind of show.
so steve and elyse begin talking about life in the 70s (snooze) and how they wanted to be more free and open with their kids than their parents were. but they don't necessarily want their kids to be putting their knowledge into practice. they didn't come to any resolution. but i guess the real resolution was that at least mallory felt open enough to come to elyse about someone else's problem.
blah blah blah cindy and her mom make up in the kitchen.
jennifer, who doesn't even have her adult teeth yet, is all "what's happening to my body?" throughout the episode. it was disturbing. mallory gets to explain it to her, which yields hijinks and mixed results.
