Chairs for Reception and Ceremony?

We are having our reception and wedding at the same site.  My fiance (and others) think it is ok to just use the same chairs for the reception that we used for the ceremony.  Has anyone done this before? And how would you move them from the ceremony spot to the tables?  It seems rude to have guests carry their own chairs! Ideas?

Re: Chairs for Reception and Ceremony?

  • What about just having the chairs set up for the reception at the tables and people can sit there to watch the ceremony?  Then you wouldn't have to move anything.
  • My venue will move our chairs to the reception area for $2 per chair, I'd ask to see if this is something they can do for you or if you can find someone to pay to do it.

  • Our friends got married on their parents land. They used the same chairs for the tent reception as the ceremony and to cut costs they only rented enough chairs for everyone and they had to be moved. The had gators that they loaded up with chairs and had the ushers do the moving. If there isn't a lot of travel involved maybe you could have the ushers carry them?

</div><div>We had pretty much the exact same situation, without the gators.  Our groomsmen were going to move the chairs, but once the guests saw the guys start to pick the chairs up, most everyone just grabbed a chair and took it over to a table.  Random, but it got done in about 2 minutes flat.
