NWR- Great Dining in Novi/Livonia/Plymouth/Farmington?

Hey ladies,

FI and I are having a date night tonight and we would love to try somewhere new. The areas in the subject are where we like to go (not too much driving). We're really open to anything new. Anyone found a little gem of a restaurant out there?

If you REALLY want to make a night of it you should try to go down to Detroit and get some Slow's BBQ, then maybe hit up a casino or something!

There's also a really awesome Speakeasy called D'Mongos that has a great atmosphere and the owner is super nice and makes the best macaroni and cheese ever. They're only open one night a week because it's a hobby for the owner.

I don't really know Novi/Livonia area, sorry I can't suggest anything more local for you!

DH's parents rave about Slow's, but we haven't actually tried it ourselves yet.

DH and I are totally in love with Sean O'Callaghan's Pub in Plymouth.  It has a great snuggly little vibe and everything we've eaten there (which is quite a few things, lol) has been absolutely amazing - even the grilled cheese.  Keep in mind that it's also a bar, though - we always go for lunch, but if you went on a Friday night it might be a little less romantic.

Ooh - plus, you could stop at the cupcake station on the way home.  :)

As much as I love Slow's and Detroit, you're going to be faced with a minimum 2 hour wait there. I can recommend lots of other yummy downtown restaurants that won't leave you starving :-) Things like Angelina's Italian Bistro, Roast, and Cliff Bell's would all be good options.

I'd personally stick with downtown Plymouth if you don't want to drive. Then you can walk around and window shop and take in all of the winter fun and decor! I've been to Compari's and Nico & Valli (which is more of a little market that also serves food. Not super cozy, but it was yummy!)

yeah, the wait at slow's is definitely ridiculous but I think that says a lot about how good the food is!

We're actually going to have some of the food from Slow's for our wedding (mmm Pulled Pork and Beef Briscut!)

When Kevin's family visits from out of town (his mom lives in Livonia) she always treats to dinner. We went to Guiliano's (?) on Plymouth Rd, almost across from East Side Mario's which we also like. Guiliano's was a pretty elegant place (real linens, LOL), but we had jeans on and they were ok with it.

But for ambiance, walking around downtown Plymouth sounds like fun, but it's going to be pretty cold tonight.

<div>I can second this as I used to work there and it's where we had our engagement pictures taken (: Sean's is the best! </div><div>
</div><div>I will also suggest "Table 5" in Northville. I know the owner, Michele and she's fantastic. I've never eaten there (sadly) but I know many people who have and love it. </div>
