My Dress Shopping Experience (LONG)

I took my mom and sister with me to look at dresses. We went to three different dress shops in West Palm. Boy i took everyone advice of trying on as many as you can and drinking tons of water. Those dresses can be heavy and exhausting after trying on about 20. The first shop was Bacio Bacio in Wellington and the staff was amazing. I tried on about 4 dresses and picked 3 i liked. To me their selection was very limited.
The 2nd store was Mariolka's Bridal in Boynton Beach. The owner was amazing and treated my family as if they were hers. The staff was very attentive and helped me with everything! They provided my family with water and cookies while they waited to see the 15 dresses or so i was inove with and wanted to try on.

The third shop was Elizabeth Charles in Greenacres. From the moment i walked in the saleswomen was the rudest person i ever spoken to. She told me to sit down because she wanted to talk to me. She asked if i tried on other dress in which care i said yes. She then replied "thats too many", she took me around the store showed me 3 dresses and then said well i did my job and walked away. She then didnt even help me pin the dresses(I'm a size 4 and the samples were around a 10) to see the full effect. My sister had the zip me up and help me hang them. I was such in shock i didn't want to be there and told the women thank you and was leaving when she said "when you are actually serious about buying a dress come back". How did she not know i had the money in my hand? How rude. I am ready to buy a dress if it was the one...

So i decided I'm only going to work with Mariolka's Bridal. Now the dilemma comes.... I'm in love with one dress and my mother is in love with another. She loves the "Victoria secret one" and I love the lace classy one. I'm not having a church wedding and everything will be on the beach. They are both great dresses and my moms opinion means a lot to me.. please help me decide!

I'm SOOO sorry you had such a bad experience at Elizabeth Charles!! Which lady was it?? I was there Saturday AM for my fitting and they were great as they have always been in the past.  When I was there there were 3 younger girls looking for a destination dress and they were very sweet to her.  The lady that helped my sister (since I worked only with the seamstress), was a woman in a black & white dress (I think she's the owner).  However, there were 2 other ladies working.  One older lady with a brownish red hair and a taller black lady arrived for a shift as we left.  Again I'm SO sorry bc I know in a previous post I recommended the shop.  :(  I always feel bad when people get treated badly.  I have to go back on 8/29 and can maybe say something if you want me to?

CandisH - Her name was Rosalie i believe. My mom bought her wedding dress there about 7 years ago(2nd marriage) and we got our Bridesmaides there also, so my mom wanted to go in because she had such a great experience. We were both in shock when we were treated that way. I didn't have an appointment and i called 20 minutes ahead to make sure it was ok to come in.

Ugh... again I'm So sorry.  A bride-to-be should never be treated that way. ;-/  Oh, BTW, FI was reading over my shoulder the other day when I was reading posts & stuff & said he knows you. :)  Small world.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience at one store, but at least the other ones were great.

I'm personally a fan of the first dress. You have to go with what you love and are most comfortable with though, not what your mom wants, or else you may constantly think about the other dress.

Yeah but I think you were in his class, I was a few years behind ('02).  Yeah he was telling me about high school and stuff.  And he always talks about his wakeboarding days... I feel so bad for him that he can't wake board anymore.

OMG!! Hands down for me, the first one is the winner! The second one is beautiful, but the first one is AH-MAZING!!

The lace is very classic and elegant, but the first one looks outstanding on your body! If it were me in your shoes (and body! lol) I'd pick the first one.

    Good luck.

I absolutely love the second one!!!!!

Oh my God I can't choose.  I think the first one is so fun and flirty and looks so amazing on you and would be sooo awesome for a beach wedding.  But the second one is breathtaking.  And so sweet and romantic.

I have...no idea.  You look amazing in both styles.  come to think of it though, when I saw the first one my reaction was "WOW!".  So I guess I'll go with that one since it caused more of an impression on me.

    Although I love lace.

Okay forget it, I've been no help whatsoever.

I would have a really hard time choosing also - they are both stunning and you look amazing in them.  I agree with PP that the first one has a definite wow factor but I keep looking at you in the second one and its a very different feel - very romatic and classy..... which suits the style of the wedding more?  your personality more?

I LOVE the 2nd!  You should go with what you love.  :-)

adrielegorburu - The wedding is on the beach which makes the first one match very well and it's sexy. The 2nd one i love because of classy and elegant it is. I'm a modern bride and love the wow factor yet i dont want to be too "sexy" at the wedding... so hard

I still say the second one.. you can wear it in a beach wedding... I think it shows off your silhouette more than the first one in such an elegantly classic way.

I'm sorry you had such an awful experience at the last shop.

Now, on to the dress, I love the second one. It looks stunning on you. But then again, I'm biased because it is almost identical to my dress (PIB).

Thank you everyone!!! I think I am going to go back and try them both on and see which one feels the best.. this is so hard

Lace halter flatters your figure better! Beautiful dress

Everybody has a different experience with every vendor. I remember having high expectations with Chic Parisien and was sorely disappointed, but at the end of the day what matters is that you find your dream dress!

The lace halter, for the beach and it just looks so beautiful on you! Which ever one you just love and can't wait to wear to marry your love!

I love the 2nd one, it is classic!  My daughter also got her dress at Mariolkas.  After going to 7 other bridal stores we found the service there to be exceptional.  They stayed open for us 40 minutes past closing because my daugher tried on so many dresses.  She had so many unique dresses we never saw in other shops.  What great people to work with!
