Have any of you used anybody from Craigslist? What was your response? I see so many services but not sure the quality of them. The only thing I have booked right now is our photographer and catering.
Still need -
Day of Planner
Rentals (tables and chairs, etc)
DJ (Possibly my FI's friend)
And not sure what else I am missing. Our venue is at my parents, catering is On The Border, photographer is my cousin, and videographer is possibly my uncle.
Re: Craigslist Vendors
I know sometimes people are just trying to get their start, and thats cool, BUT we have enough reasonably tried and true vendors/venues go MIA. I just wouldn't take the risk.
That's just my two cents.
i'd suggest taking a look at the sticky post about vendors and/or searching our board for "Vendor Review" and looking at the things others have written. i think you'll find plenty of good suggestions that way and have someone who has used them here and ready to talk to if you have questions about one.
If you find someone that sounds good... ask! Google... look around... do your research.
And of course, if you're looking for certain vendors, we can help. Let us know what you're looking for and what you'd like to spend, and you'll get lots of recommendations!

One of our Knotties from last year hired her DOC from Craigslist and regretted it. The girl ended up yanking the bride's veil off right before she was ready to walk down the aisle, among other things.

[QUOTE]Ditto PP. If you are concerned about budget, we have many budget-friendly vendors we could suggest for you. Brianna, this happened before you were here. I actually was going to use the same DOC and once I read that review I definitely didn't use her!
Here is her review (I took out her name though):
DOC: F+ I found Kasie on Craigslist, and when my mom and I met her in person, she said all of the right things. Plus, she was CHEAP. I'm pretty sure she lied when she told me that she had already done a few weddings. She has a background in floral design, and did a good job making corsages and bouts (except the part where she forgot to make one for the bridesman). She was totally ineffective at running the rehearsal, and wasn't organized. She dressed inappropriately on the wedding day, and I heard from several guests that they caught a glimpse of her rear because her short skirt kept riding up. Kasie wadded up my train in both hands before I walked down the aisle, and yanked my veil off as the chapel doors were opening for my entrance... Bottom line: I don't recommend her services.

ETA: i mean 100% loved. mine was a little weird, but was fine the day of. everything went smoothly as far as i knew. it wasn't until afterwards that i found out about something happening that made me really upset.
[QUOTE]For rentals you could look up Fox Rentals (don't know where they're located or where you're at). My sister had a backyard wedding and used them for her tables and chairs.

I believe that Fox Rentals is in Grapevine, which is close to you.

Thank you for the reference! I had no idea who to call first. I thought about Ducky Bobs since my job uses them for our carnivals.

Me! Mine was so amazing, start to finish. I will do vendor reviews before we leave on Tuesday, I swear
I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?
Yes--Tabitha did our cake and we were very happy with her. She only charged us $1.50/slice for our cake. And damn was it good--we got to choose a different flavor for every layer too.
For rentals, don't use Ducky Bob's--they are way more expensive than anyone else. I've heard good things about TLC.

Her pics ARE beautiful, and her price is great. AND we clicked over our obsession with spreadsheets.
