Morning thread?

I may be too early for this... Stupid UK. I'm guessing it's like, 3am for most people at the moment... Oh well.

I'm so very excited today, first appointment with the midwife! The next four hours are gonna drrrraaaaaaag.

Apart from that, not a lot doin for me today. Work at 10, home at 1 for the midwife, then back to work until 8. Not lookin forward to that, I'm in the kitchen today, and we're still in our mini heat wave so I'm gonna melt... And I have no idea where my kitchen uniform is, so there's that... But then I'm not back in 'til 6pm tomorrow so I get most of my Saturday off :]

Anyone know how to put pics on here from an iPhone? I've been sewing all kinds of baby crap that I'd love to share. Was never any good at sewing so I'm quite impressed with myself :]

How does Friday go for you guys?
So, maybe things don't always go as planned... Maybe that's okay. I may be alone for now, but my baby boy is on his way, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Re: Morning thread?

  • I'm also in the UK, and also very much awake and out-and-about this morning.

I forget where you are Legu -- have you been having the same amazing weather all week that we've been having in the south and east?   It's been such a nice week!!!

Ooh yay! I also forgot :[ I'm in Buckinghamshire, so right slap bang in the middle of the country. Yesterday was a proper roaster. Today seems a lot cooler here so far, and there's literally one biiiig grey cloudsky, even though there's apparently going to be brilliant sunshine later... Believe that when I see it. Guess summer's over for another year, huh... Lol Where abouts are you [generally]?

She delivers wherever you decide to give birth, as far as I understand it... But yeah, she was coming to the house as she wasn't technically working today, she was just gonna rush me through as I shoulda had all this a month ago. Oh well. Can't be helped. She's doing a whole bunch of midwife appointments at the surgery next week so I'm goin there on Wed afternoon instead. On the plus side, she said she's sent in a biooking request for my next scan, so I should be having that at some point in the next week or so, then I find out for sure whether there are any problems, and I could possibly find out if it's a boy or a girl!!

  • SM, I love that you have hermit crabs. I told H I wanted a tank because my neighbor had them when I was a kid and would watch them for hours. He said "gross, no."

We have the same weather here - the sky is one giant blanket of cloud. So depressing. It's been feeling like fall the last few days already. Our summer lasts for like a minute.
  • I'm up because it's 11:00 p.m. in Shanghai.  H and I are watching Friday Night Lights, hoping I go into labor any minute.

Legu, what kinds of things are you sewing for the baby?
  • Thanks, Stage!

I had five hermies of my own when I was in middle school. They were sweet pets, they were.  How many do you have now?
  • does it freak you out to have a picture of a watermelon in your sig, Ting? OMG. And I've been pregnant before, I just didn't have the internet visuals way back then.
  • Ha ha, ballet.  It doesn't freak me out too much, except on the few occasions recently when I've come home from the market with a small, round watermelon in my arms and I realize how heavy the sucker is!  No wonder my pelvic area is in constant discomfort.
  • I'm working on it, Edie!

I feel like we've tried everything to coax him/her out, and nothing's working.  I went for a good, hard, 70-minute foot massage a few hours ago.  We have an appointment with the midwife in eleven hours, but I'm hoping somehow that the irregular and non-painful contractions I'm having will pick up enough that we'll go in and be there for good.
  • I went to a Grateful Dead concert when I was 9 months pregnant and I was really sure I could boogie that girl out, but no. Those stubborn babies, they just show up whenever they feel like it.

Ballet: I was dancing in our living room just now!  I don't have much for moves, but H seemed to be amused.

Stage:  I never had a hermie quite the size of my fist.  Mine were all little guys, like golf ball size.  I remember being really careful to put them all back in their tank after letting them out into my room, because they could fit underneath just about all the furniture in my room.

Edie: You have any recipes to pass on?  I've heard promising things about eggplant parm, and the oregano and basil which goes into it.  I haven't heard anything about magical cookies or pork chops.

Edited: Because I never had gold balls.

oh lordy, I just pictured Ting waving a pork chop between her knees and almost spit out my coffee.

(edited for literacy, need more coffee)
  • Oh, my goodness gracious.  I just LOL'ed for about a minute.

    I think I'll keep dancing!

Apologies for the late response, ended up working 2pm 'til 2am instead of my cushty 10 'til 8 :[

Anyhoo. I've made a little pillow, started a blanket, and made a teddy bear,dog,rabbit... [sorta looks like a bit of everything]. Oh and I've started on a coat as well.
Definitely keeping myself busy as I don't know how to use a machine either, so I'm seeing it all by hand, which means I have to like, triple sew it all as my sewing's not the best and I want to make sure it's all strong enough. Fun, though :]

Props to you for sewing by hand, Legu.  I'm not crafty in the least!
