How was your weekend?

Enough crazy for me today.

How did this weekend treat everybody?

Re: How was your weekend?

Let me just say, I actually saw sun on saturday and it hit 64 degrees!! I never thought I'd actually miss being in CT (aside from BF being there of course). I actually got to ride both horses saturday and I spent 8 hours at work on sunday.

Oh and its only like 10 more weeks till I go home to CT, I cannot wait

My weekend was okay. I haven't been feeling well again. We bought a gas grill and made bison burgers.

FI and I got a couple more things crossed off the to do list: we've got a ceremony laid out and most of our music selected!

    Getting so close now! Eeep!

    How was your weekend, kat?

And Midnite, I'm so sorry your health continues to be a problem for you. :(  But a gas grill is an exciting purchase! I love grilling, but it's not exactly feasible in our second floor apartment. I am so hoping we will be able to buy a house in the next year or so!

This time it's mainly just a lot of pain below my right rib cage. Josh was really excited to buy a gas grill. Bison Burgers are pretty good(they are also supposed to be healthy)

Yay for that you that  you have a lot of stuff done. What music did you select?

    Lovely!

Spent the weekend in Paris - my travel companion was a colleague and was somewhat less than ideal (sort of a negative nancy) but we split up for most of the time except dinner, so that made it better.  I wandered around side streets and got lost and enjoyed lots of delicious French food.  And bought wonderful new shoes!  I LOVE Paris!

Got home, and it was wonderful to see my BF.  We missed each other a lot.

He has a week off in October, and I have that same Monday off, so we decided that I would take the rest of the week and we'd go somewhere (not surprising as we both love to travel).  I suggested that we wait and see how flights look to our top 20 locations (really, anywhere in Europe or LatAm) and when we see a killer deal, we'd buy it and head to that city.

Well, BF had other plans.  He's adament that we're going to fly into Berlin and out of Rome, stopping in Vienna in between.  He wanted to also do Munich, but I suggested 3 days per city is short enough.  He's usually VERY focused on saving money, so I was shocked that he was so adament about a specific flight and such an expensive trip!  He even said if I can't afford it, he'll pay for me (as he's a student, I pay for most things we do).  Who are you and what did you do with my boyfriend???!!!!

Also, he received his $5000 from the Marines (annual stipend for those going through law school) but has not factored it into his budget - he has a very regimented and documented approach to budgeting his money, down to the penny (literally, the penny).  I asked him about it, suggesting he should factor it in so that his living expenses are a bit more comfortable and he said something vague like our October trip and expenses "and stuff".  He's never vague.

Needless to say, $5000 of unaccounted for money, a very elaborate trip, and a mysterious boyfriend....ya know... not sayin' it is, but it might be!

Ours is going well. Going back up to NY this weekend for my last shower. Inlaws are coming to see the venue, etc. I have a fitting and we are getting our epics taken!!

Cate - What kind of sweet job sends you to Paris for the week?  And gives you time off to go to Europe again?  I want it :)

My weekend was nice.  We had beautiful weather so I went to the beach a lot.

My weekend was busy. Saturday bright and early I drove with my mom and aunt 2.5 hours to go to 2 of my cousins graduation parties. So a bunch of my relatives.

Sunday drove home, and went to Grand Old Day, which is a local festival here with a lot of bands and food. It's a good time.

Haha, my job is definitely awesome!  I was in London for the week for a conference, but decided to spend the weekend in Paris since the flight was already paid for by my company.  And I am only taking 4 days off in October, so that's pretty reasonable.  Plus it's after the last of our conferences for the year (I am in charge of the agenda and speakers for our conferences globally) so it will be a lot easier to take a few days off.

Yup, pretty sure I'm next on the board.

    I am getting SO excited!

Mostly, what's left to do is meeting with the officiant and music coordinator, payments to vendors, seating chart and escort cards, finishing up gifts for wedding party and parents, mani/pedi appointments, and finalizing rehearsal dinner details. Oh, and bachelor/bachelorette parties! Totally manageable in the time left!

For ceremony music, we'll have low key popular romantic music for the prelude and postlude (Jack Johnson, Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, etc) and will go traditional for the rest of the ceremony -- Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary for the wedding party processional, Canon in D for me, and Handel's Water Music (hornpipe section) for the Recessional.

For the reception: wedding party entrance to Enter Sandman, first dance Stand by Me (Ben E. King's version), parent dance I'll Remember by Madonna, Eye of the Tiger for the garter, Bootylicious for the bouquet, and Love You Madly by Cake for the cake. I also have a long list of "please don't play" and another huge list of "please play" songs for dancing.

Kat - I am going to make the balls in July and freeze them. Will dip them probably a few days before the wedding. Luckily I will have at least 3 others (maybe more)  including me there for the dipping and decorating.

When we made the first round of cake pops we froze some and tried them at different points to see how they fared in the freezer. They were still good at the 2 month mark.

I will be sure to take lots of pics.

Desert- I love that the reception entrance song is Enter Sandman!  You picked some great music! Your wedding is coming up fast. Are you more nervous or excited? What are your "please don't play"songs?

    Thanks, Midnite!

Yeah, time is FLYING by! I'm more super excited than nervous, but I'm sure nervous will come on the day itself. This is another reason we plan to do a first encounter with just FI and I before the ceremony. It will help both of us be more calm and relaxed if we get some time alone.

    Please don't play songs are:
-that stupid bed rock song. i don't even know who sings it, but I HATE it!
    -YMCA
    -Electric Slide
    -Locomotion
    -Tainted love
    -White Wedding
    -My Heart Will Go On
-You give love a bad name
    -who let the dogs out
    -i will always love you
    -conga
    -my humps
    -jesse's girl

My weekend was quite interesting actually! Saturday I had to work until 6pm but we lost power so I got off early at 4pm instead , and FI and I went out to an early dinner , then went out to Bed Bath and Beyond and set up our registry there , which seriously FI was like a kid ina  candy store , it was so cute. He was pointing out things not only that he wanted but that he knew I have and said to just add it , it's okay..he is so adorable lol.

As we wer eleaving BBB , FI's mom called. Last we heard she was not coming ( lots of famly drama between his mom and dad since they divorced) - but apprently has changed her mind , and she will be coming now. Honestly I'm happy for FI she is , because I could tell it was bothering him , and I do want to get along with her , but she has made it hard so far but I am not giving up hope.

On the way home we stopped at Coldstone Creamery for ice cream..mmm!

Sunday was my day off so we went and got an oil change for his car and we went out to breakfast. We spent most the day shopping for my shoes for my dress and I somehow convionced him I completely was in need of a new cute bathing suit which I adore ! We also found our wedding cake server/toasting flute set we will be purchashing at the end of the month at things remembered.

Thank you Desert that means alot to me! Once I put it on I knew I had to have it..FI is way too good to me when it comes to things I feel happy in and I adore him for it. I joked it was his fault , he pointed out the store and told me to go in the first place , lol !

Work has just been annoying. Basically back in December I was half a$$ trained to do a commision based department , but was not put through the offical training so I don't make commision even when I am scheduled in that department. Now they hired someone new to fill that spot , who has NO retail nor experience with our brands/items and now that I am just now getting used to it..I am getting booted out.
And to top that off the other department I wanna go into they are re hiring someone else for because she heard a position as opening up..sigh. I am trying my hardest to do everything they ask of me , even going above and beyond like I do daily , its not nearly enough. I seriously think I put up with way too much BS for my 9.34 an hour..but thats what I get for not being able to afford college.

Sounds like everyone had a great weekend!  I spent mine hanging at the house with the kids.  Went to the pool a few times, was very proud of my son for getting over his fear of jumping in the pool!!!  Yay for him!  My daughter (she's 3) even jumped in a time or two, while holding my hand of course.  The only thing that wasn't so cool was that I didn't get to spend any time with BF and now he's on his weekly business trip.  He has to travel 1.5 hours every Monday and doesn't come home till Tuesday after work.  But, his job gives him an expense account for gas and hotel, so it's not that bad.  Plus I sometimes join him for dinner/the night while he's down there.  Though it's rare, since I have to convince my mom to watch my kids for that....  But we just had a video chat a little while ago before he had to go to bed and he calls me in the mornings to wake me up.  :)
