Ok, so I have this unrealistic fear that our DJ is going to suck.
Out of everything, that is my one and ONLY concern for the entire day, is the DJ.
My dad had someone lined up for us that he knew, and the guy backed out. So, he found this guy through someone else. He doesn't really know him personally. I've spoken with him a few times and we've emailed back and forth. He's done weddings, but he didn't even know what a private last dance was. He'd never heard of it...that worried me. My photographer put me at ease and told me that he would take care of making sure everything ran smoothly, and communicating with the DJ.
But here's my question. We have made him a CD with music that we know he doesn't have. It's a lot of Texas Country, stuff most people probably haven't heard of unless you are a Texas Country fan. But we want him to mix in obviously fun stuff that every age group will know too, to get people dancing.
What type of music is normally played at the reception before the bride and groom make their entrance, while people are chatting and eating appetizers and whatnot? Just some random background music that the DJ picks? Or is that something you're supposed to pick and tell them before hand?
I feel like with this guy, I really need to spell things out for him....
Re: DJ Question
Cocktail hour music can be your preference. Typically it is something kind of low key because guests will be mingling. We had big band jazz (Sinatra type) music played from the beginning all the way through dinner.
I just gave mine genre's and let him go with it and I had a lot of people complement him.
What if you just let him know a specific genre (maybe give a few artists names as an example to make sure its clear) and let him go. You could always appoint someone to let him know if he is heading the wrong direction.

[QUOTE]It sounds like you need to meet this guy and discuss your wedding with him. You can find out what music he has and if you need to burn any cd's of the music you want played.

She doesn't really have time to do this.
Go with what Tiffany is saying, she's spot on!
Ok, sounds like a plan. I think we'll do that! Thanks ladies!
Yeah, I guess now you have to just go with it and trust that it will work out!
With All the Trimmings
I think at this point, I'm hoping I should give this guy a little more credit than I am!
