Marriage License question

Do you need birth certificates when you apply for your license? I know the website says "Photo ID" so I know we need drivers licenses, but is there anything else we need to bring with us?

EDIT: I called the town clerk this morning and found that the particular town we are getting married in does not need them, just licenses. Every town seems to be different, so I made the phone call!

we just used our license...since you get it in the town clerks office...thats where they keep the birth certificates (unless you're getting married in a town where there is a hospital...then the health department holds the birth certificates).

No birth certificates needed.  The town clerk in Kent didn't even ask to see our IDs lol!  But you should definitely have you license with you because usually then do... and list your current address on the certificate even if it differs from your license.

We have to get ours in Middletown and I was told that we have to bring our license and our SS card or something with out SS# on it. I guess it's different everywhere! I also thought we had to go down together but the lady told me we can come seperately and the 2nd person will take the license home with them.

Make sure to get your marriage license from the town in which you will be getting MARRIED in....for instance, I'm getting married in Mystic, but Mystic is a village that is part of both Groton and Stonington, so my venue's address is on the Stonington side, so go to the Stonington town clerk....

And from what it sounds like, every town seems to have differing requirements.  We only need to bring our licenses (photo ID) there
