Studio Z

I watched a few wedding video clips online that were produced by Studio Z, and I was amazed by their work.  So I contacted them for pricing, and was blown away by how expensive they are.  Starting price at $4500?!?  Since my fiance is already anti-videographer, there is no way that I'm going to fit this one into our budget!

For anyone who has chosen NOT to hire a videographer, have you regretted this after the wedding?

I've looked at other companies, but Studio Z is the only one I've actually been impressed with so far.

    Have you checked out Lifetime?

DH and I were originally against having a videographer, but one of my friends got married about 6 months before we did and used Matt Pine with Lifetime and I was so amazed by her video when I saw it (3 months) before my wedding that I decided to look into one.  I looked at some other companies as well, but Lifetime's work was MUCH better than anyone else I looked into.  Fortunately, Matt was still available since we got married in the off season so I booked him and have NEVER regretted making that decision.  Our trailer and video was absolutely amazing.  DH was so glad I decided to use him as well after he saw the final product.

I will also say that $4500 seems extremely expensive.  We paid less than that with Matt and he did an amazing job.  He was also awesome to work with and he has an amazing personality.  I was so nervous and anxious before my wedding and having Matt around definitely calmed me down!  Also, I just saw yesterday that he won the Cincy A List best videographer award!  You should definitely check out his blog if you haven't yet (our trailer is under the March 2010 link, 3rd down from the top).

Ours is SUPER-budget friendly- just because we wanted video of the day- but not done by uncle so-and-so...

We are using finest view (finestview.com) stationed in Dayton, but he is doing ours in Oxford and not charging us a traveling fee or anything. Nothing super fancy- but we are just excited to get footage for under $600!

Along with the above mentioned great filmmakers...also check out Lifemark Studios and Blue Canister. Both do high quality work starting at $2400.

I was originally against a videographer but my finance really wanted one. We tried Mills Films, who did his sister wedding but he was booked. We ended up booking Poetic Cinema and I am very excited to see our video. His work is great and he is very easy to work with, so far.

Sorry for the late response, I was unplugged from my computer during spring break.

At my tea ceremony last summer, we didn't have professional videography.  We thought, "It's not the wedding, we could save the money for the big day."  The DIY home camcorder captured some of the important moments.  After watching it, I got teary eyed and realized how much I had missed in person.  Imagine if it were full coverage by a pro.

We are going with Dan Shallenberger at Poetic Cinema.  I feel very confident with him.  We love his work very much.  His work is less than half the quote you got from Studio Z.

I am using Innovatory for my photographer... and just recently got an email from them that you now have the option of adding on video. You get two photogs with them so if you go for video one focuses on the pics and the other focuses on the video. I forget the exact pricing/details but it wasn't 4500 thats for sure.... I think they are still under 2K for pics only & then adding on the video was 700ish? Something like that!

I think the moral of the story is yes they do seem expensive... I'd do some searching around for cheaper options! :)

My fiance's cousin used Studio Z and keeps trying to get me to book them. She doesn't seem to understand that some people have budgets! I'm using Matrimoments and am really happy with their prices and quality. We are going to make a custom package to meet our needs.

Personally I think if you can afford a videographer, you should get one. I think it's something that 20 years from now I will be really glad that I did.

I agree!  They quoted me $5k to do my wedding in Cbus.  I ended up going with Blue Canister out of Dayton.  $2400-2900 and their work is great!
