Wait until you feel like dating. I don't think there's an answer to this question that fits everyone, across the board.

Eeeh. Depends on the situation and the type of friendship you have. Again, I don't think there's an answer to this question that fits everyone, across the board. FWIW, my FI was one of my ex bf's really good friends and neither of us feels bad in any way about it.

How long should one wait after a break up to start dating again? I want to say a couple months...but I'll be honest and say that I didn't always stick to that (try less than 2 weeks between previous ex and FI and my first date).

Is dating a friend's ex wrong? Depends on the situation. If it was a while ago and everyone's totally fine with it, no problem.

If your friend dated any of your exes, would you be ok? Again, as long as everyone's moved on, yes. A friend from HS will probably marry her BF who I dated for over a year in HS, and I think they're a far better couple than we were!

Your worst ex was most infamous for: The one before FI gave me a diamond necklace for my birthday. I was studying in Chile, starting to feel like maybe we'd run our course, but he'd booked his plane ticket to come see me. I told him not to get me a big present because the flight was enough. The necklace was WAY more than any present we'd gotten each other before. When we broke up, he asked if I was going to give it back. I said no, it was a gift, you only give back an engagement ring because that's the only gift that comes with expectations. His response: "well I kind of saw this as an engagement ring." Umm, things you maybe should have said beforehand!

Your favorite ex is famous for: I don't know if I'd say famous for, but I just remembered that he and his family came over senior year of high school. We'd dated freshman and sophomore year, and they were family friends, so by this point we were just friends again (known him since we were 9). My dog got skunked in the middle of dinner, and he was out there in the dark washing her with me - after that I was pretty sure that despite the break-up we'd stay friends for life

long enough that its not a rebound situation. I think you should have a handle on single life (whether you like it or not) before you jump back into a relationship.

Not in all cases. It depends on how serious their relationship was and how it ended. If they went out 4 times 6 years ago and have no hard feelings, then I see no problem. If you hooked up with him when they were engaged, I'd call you a bad name.

Id tell them not to, but I wouldn't begrudge them happiness. I want nothing to do with any of my exes, so if that's who they want, go for it.

Being married and having a baby and not telling me until she was 9 months old (he was living with me at the time) and giving me an STD.

He was my first love. We are still friends. He is famous for lots of crazy stunts in HS, but most infamously for getting suspended for drinking in the stands during a football game, in uniform (band). He took the fall for the rest of us, which I greatly appreciated.

It depends really on how long and serious the relationship. If you were just casually dating, a couple weeks is fine. If you were serious or in the relationship for oer a year, I say wait AT LEAST a couple months.

Is dating a friend's ex wrong? In most cases YES. But, if you are going to risk ruining a friendship, that relationship better go all the way.

If your friend dated any of your exes, would you be ok? No, I wouldn't. I'm not that big of a person, and most of my exes I wouldn't even wish on my enemies.

Your worst ex was most infamous for: Cheating. He was rtying to give Tiger Woods a run for his money.

Your favorite ex is famous for: He actually was a really nice guy. Too nice actually, I think it mught be why we didn't work out.

So if none of you guessed it, today's theme is about cheating and exes....I have a friend who dated a guy for 2 years and cheated on him with a mutual friend.....and then dumped first boyfriend and started dating other guy....1 month after the breakup....but expected everyone to remain friends and hold hands and puppies and rainbows and stuff....it really bugs me and it's not even my relationship.

Ooooo. I forgot one!

One of the worst exs: Lived with his parents, went to community college but dropped out to work at KFC. We were both college aged, so fast food job is no biggie. Except that he wuit KFC because they wanted him to work more than 20 hours a week. I only dated him for a summer and spent lots of time in Chalmette, LA, where he was from (2.5 hrs from my parents house). He stole my baseball card collection under the guise of getting it valued at a comics/card shop he frequented. He was into Insane Clown Posse. This should have been a warning sign.

The best part was that I broke up with him over Yahoo messenger when I got back to college in TX. 2 days later, he told me that the reason I always had to pay and thought he was broke was that he really did have money but didn't want to have to explain where it came from. He claimed he was an illegal arms dealer. OMG. I laughed so hard, I wish he could have heard me. I called bull crap on that one and then blocked all forms of communicaiton and changed my phone number.

Stina, that's pretty effed up. FI and I didn't start dating until like 8 months after I broke up with his friend P. There was never any cheating, and I think we handled the situation with as much tact as we possibly could. P still called me a whore after he found out though.

what would bug me about that is that the girl is a cheater, not so much the relationship itself. She was really unfair to the first guy, and I'd dislike her for that, just for the cheating part.

However, we all find love in different places..

This whole story made me laugh. I'm from Louisiana, and I know Chalmette well, so this is hilarious to me. He sounded like a winner...lol. (and maybe a drug dealer).

I just don't like how the other guy was all "I never did anything with her until after she broke up with him" and I know it's a lie.

I was friends with all 3 before this, and we all went swing dancing together. But now it's so awkward and I don't like having to "not side/side" so I find myself not wanting to go at all. I am so disappointed with her and the second boy.

Yeah, that would piss me off too. The one friendship I have ever totally burned a bridge on was a friend who wanted me to lie to her bf for her when I caught her cheating. I was better friends with her bf than her, so that was not happenning. I didnt initiate the conversation, but I didn't lie to him when he asked me either. I never spoke to her again. They ended up getting married and then she left him for a woman. I still talk to him, but I'm glad I wasn't wrapped up in all THAT drama from her side.

Yeah, it's so complicated and again, NOT my relationship/love triangle, but I was practically thrust into it when the second boy told me how much he loved her from a distance and how they loved each other and how she was waiting to move out to break up with the boyfriend. I could not believe my ears.

And then he gets all mad that boyfriend unfriended him on facebook. I told him "get over it, You got the girl...and you're dating his ex after a month of their breakup." He didn't seem to think the boyfriend was treating HIM fairly.

Not that I'm glad that everyone had to date douches, but I'm glad to see some of the douche stories on here. I don't feel quite so stupid for my bad dating decisions in my youth.

I always say you need to give yourself time to heal-there's no "real" answer for that. I'm a hypocrite, though, FI and Itotally jumped in before we both should have-but we always say that our first 6 months together was our "rebound"-then we got serious.

Um ... well, FI and my ex used to be great friends, and I used to be friends (kinda) with FI's ex ... but we all stopped being "friends" before FI and I got together ... I guess if everybody's "over it", it's not a crime.

I only have one "real" ex ... and if any of my friends dated him, I couldn't be ok with that. He was abusive and horrible, and I don't care if he ever "changes", I can never forgive what he did to me.

I had to get a restraining order on him. He was extremely abusive (Physically, emotionally, sexually) and constantly cheating on me, and when I tried to break it off, he took to following me everywhere and threatening me ... it was bad. I guess the "best" story was the last Christmas I saw him, he showed up at my house with an engagement ring. I was stupid and accepted (Even though we were already "broken up for the last time" at that point). After I accepted, he seriously kept trying to goad me into a fight, he would not let up on it ... I finally found out that his other girlfriend's birthday was January 7th, and the plan was to get me to be so mad at him I'd give back the ring so he could give it to her on her birthday. Needless to say, I kept it and proceeded to sell it just a few months ago(And used the money to pay for my BMs jewelry).

Well, I only have the 1 ex, so I guess the next best thing is my favorite "What Might Have Been" guy. He drove a candy apple red Mustang, easily the most bad-ass car at our high school. He could always make me laugh so hard I nearly peed myself, no matter how bad of a day I was having ... and he always had this habit of re-appearing in my life post-high school whenever I was going through a rough patch to make me feel better. But it just never went anywhere.

Two of my bridesmaids had a little issue with this a couple months ago. Friend A was casually dating a boy. She was also dating two other boys very casually, everyone knew that they weren't exclusive. Friend B lives with A, and they all hung out together. Well, the boy and friend B had this "intense emotional connection" and started talking/texting behind friend A's back. B would tell him when A was on other dates and what A said about him. And also knew he was going to break it off with A.

Well everyone went out and got drunk together and the $hit hit the fan.

B and the guy both got themselves into hot water, A exploded and things got ugly. B called me crying because she didn't know what she had done, and she hadn't felt so strongly about someone in a long time. A was just pissed at B and not even at the boy. The funny thing is two days later, B realizes that she doesn't really even like the guy and then calls it off with him. A asks her to move out (temporarily).. and everyone is picking sides.

I swear it was almost to the point of making shirts that said "Team A" "Team B". I stayed completely in the middle, and laughed at the whole situation because we are 27 and they were acting like high-school idiots.

Thankfully now, they let B move back in and they are friends again, because I hated dealing with the drama.

Sarah, you have some AMAZING stories today!

And that's saying something considering the level of crazies that it sounds like so many of us have experienced. I am currently thanking the dating gods for sending me such normal, nice guys...even the one who told me that he was worried about me because I wasn't Christian enough and was going to hell (this in response to my questioning of whether I believed in God, apparently the pre-marital sex we were having wasn't an issue) is definitely puppies and rainbows next to Waffle House/arms dealer/stalker men!

Yeah, I have had a colorful history. I sure picked some winners in the past. There really wasn't much to choose from where I grew up, so I'm glad I left and got to find FI.

And I did date a guy who worked at Waffle House, but as far as I know he didn't try to off himself there.. he sounds like a very special person, Leah.

I don't think so. You can't call dibs on someone for any amount of time if you aren't dating them. I know it's hard, but you had a chance with them and it didn't work out. You can't control who people fall in love with.

I didn't date a whole lot, so I can't really answer this. I did have a huge fall out with a very close friend but just sucked it up because she was dating another friend. They ended up breaking up but friend doesn't exactly equal ex.

Depends entirely on the person and how they're taking the breakup, and what the relationship was. After dating one guy in high school for 2 months or so, I said "yes" when asked out by another guy three days later, and the second relationship lasted almost 2 years. Other times, I've waited anywhere from days to months.

It depends on the friend and the ex and what went wrong. If the friend was still hung up on the ex, I'd be uncomfortable dating him and would stay away. But if it was short term or if it was all ok, I don't see why I shouldn't.

Absolutely. I'm still friends with several of my exes, so I'd love it if some of my friends met & got together with them! I also have good friend who are exes who are married now, and I'm friends with their wives too. On the other hand, if a friend of mine wanted to date one of the shitheads I've dated, I'd object for the well being of my friend.

Well, we only went out a couple of times, but one guy had the absolutel worst fashion sense. I don't expect much from guys, but this one was horrible and everyone always noticed when he came in the room. He was also the most annoying person in my epic class and everyone hated him.

Generally being an a$$. I mean that in the nicest possible way. It's just that he's too blunt for a lot of people. He's very loyal to people he likes though.
