I am...ahem...challenged up top

Hi everyone :)

Unfortunately for me, I am quite a bit, shall we say, challenged up top. To put it plainly, my boobage is not adequate. I have found in trying on quite a few dresses that they fit me like a glove through the hip and thigh (at least I am gifted in that way) but I look disproportionate up top. Can anyone recommed a particular brand of strapless bra or enhancer that might help me out in the breast deparment?

Thanks!

  • I hear ya, girl. I'm a 34A with a 26 inch waist and 40 inch hips. I ended up with a trumpet gown (totally wrong for my body type, say the experts!) and had a corset made with pockets for chicken cutlets. The corset isn't to reshape my waist, obviously, but it's the best way I could find to create the structure for the boob inserts.
  • I would recommend the Bombshell bra from Victoria's Secret (it's the one that adds two cup sizes). I believe there is a convertible version that can be strapless, one strap or normal straps, whatever is needed for your dress. They're a bit expensive but high quality and a major confidence boost. I love them and wear them everyday (literally).
  • I'm challenged too.  I had a couple chicken cutlets added to my gown to beef me up.  That, and my gown was not tight on the top and was an angled sweetheart.  That helped a lot.

  • While the VS bra is awesome, if you aren't going to wear it ever day, just check out Kohls or even Target. They also have similar strapless bras much cheaper. You may want to consider a cropped bustier for more structure.

  • I would definitely hit up Victorias Secret and get one of their salespeople to help you.

  • same problem - i got cups sewn into my dress (and the lady had to hunt around in her stash for the 'biggest size' she could fine...slightly embarassing). i recommend it! my BM was like - whoa where did those come from? haha
  • I'm a 36 A, I'm wearing a padded strapless bra and after they took a small nip in the top of my dress under each arm it fits great around the bust.  I got the bra at Penney's which wasn't as pricey but also liked a Wonderbra I found at Macy's, just went with the one from Penney's since it was cheaper.

My dress has a modified sweetheart neckline, the true sweetheart also looked good but I felt more comfortable and more "me" with the modified sweetheart.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I'll go with the VS idea, but I'd have them measure you and try on any and every bra in that size.  They all fit us differently.  While one bra gives me great cleavage, another makes me flat.  If you don't already shop there, sign up for their emails and you can get a coupon.  I would also see about having the cutlets inserts by your seamstress.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

<div>I agree. I have the strapless one for the wedding.  It's also called Miraculous.</div>

  • La Senza has some great bras to make boobs bigger. Same as VS, but a smaller price tag. I'm not sure if they have strapless, but it's been a while since I've perused their selection.

  • I had cups sewn in. Actually two on each side with one of them folded in half! If you don't go the bra route (I couldn't because the back of my dress was a bit low) definitely don't worry... Seamstresses can make miracles! Good luck!

  • The "cheaper" bras (knock off VS Miraculous ones) that are found at like Jc Penny and stuff can be found at TJ Maxx for even cheaper!! :)

I actually have normal sized boobage and I'm wearing a sweetheart mermaid, and I had cups sewn in. I'm adding chicken cutlets for just a little extra boost!
