HM in Vegas- Help plan.

We are thinking about having our HM in Vegas. I was looking into staying at Mandalay Bay. (Is there a better one, we want a jacuzzi and nothing really fancy.) We are going in the first week of July for 7 days, if that makes a difference.

I found two things for us to do:
~ Shark Reef Aquarium
~ Grand Canyon Tour

What else is there to do that is not too expensive and would be somewhat close by so we didn't have to rent a car? We are interested in topless shows, and outdoor activities. We aren't huge into parties and that scene, but we like to drink. Any ideas?

I would get a good guide and check things out ahead, like shows, restaurants, buffets etc... At least that's what we did for our first trip. The Grand Canyon isn't very close, just so you know. Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam are def closer. You won't have a problem finidng places to drink, I'm sure. A couple of good websites are Vegas.com and SmarterVegas.com. Also, if you look at the pinned threads check out the convention calendar. If your HM falls on an uber-busy convention week it's best to reserve your room some time in advance. The hotels are themed (most of them) so I guess just pick one the both of you think you'll enjoy. The Fremont Experience is also a must. Happy HM planning!

Oh, I don't know about topless shows, sorry.

i live in vegas and you can get a few good deal. check what hotels at that time are giving free buffet when you sign up for a players club card. Mr. lucky's in the hard rock hotel has some good food deals as well as Elis Island. What else do you want to know I will see what i can find out

Depending on what your tastes are in terms of hotel decor, the Planet Hollywood Westgate Towers are more centrally located, just off the strip (through the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood), and their suites have jacuzzi tubs in the master bedroom. PH is a lot more modern, and attracts a younger crowd, so it really depends what you're into.

As for topless shows, I'm a huge advocate for Jubilee at Bally's. I go each time I'm in Vegas, definitely one of my favorites.

For topless shows, FI and I saw "Bite" last year. It's a topless vampire show. It was kinda cheesy but we got two for one tickets out of a coupon book, so, it was cheap and, the best part of it to me was it is set to old 80s rock music. The soundtrack was pretty fun. It was a good way to spend about an hour and a half. There are, of course, many options for drinking, but FI and I are trying the "sip happens" tour by Nitetours. It's supposed to be a tour of three laid back lounges and one club where you get either special drinks or two for one. I'm not sure if it'll be worth it or not yet but it might be something you want to look in to.

Do they have a trolly or some sort of public transportation we could jump on to get to the other end of the strip? I heard it is kind of a long walk if your hotel is on one end. (I was told to stay between Tropicana Ave. and Flamingo Rd.. Is that true?)

We don't really care what the rooms look like. As long as they are clean, with a nice pool and whirlpool tubs! ;)

Between Monte Carlo and City Center and Bellagio there are some free trams and there is also a free traim between TI and Mirage.</div><div>

For a honeymoon, I'd probably not stay at Mandalay, Luxor or Exaclibur; not that you'd want to stay at the latter two. Mandalay is at the very end of the strip near nothing so you're going to be taking cabs nearly everywhere if you want to go explore the rest of Vegas.

Caesars has some very nice suites and gets you within walking distance of Bellagio fountains, two or three malls depending on what you consider a walk but at least two, the Venetian (and one of the malls) for site seeing, gondola rides, etc. You can walk to about four or five big resorts for shows, etc. Venetian or Bellagio would be options too of course.

Bite was an awesomely cheesy rock n' roll show. I seriously recommend it. I saw Jubilee, it was good, but I got kind of bored.

I recommend going to a Tix4Tonight booth for your show tickets. We've gotten awesome seats the day-of for a fraction of the price. They also sell you restaurant discounts.

Restaurants.com is another great site. I have gotten a ton of dinner vouchers to really great restaurants. If you sign up ,, they mail you codes that will give you up to 80% off the certificate price. Be aware that they all do have some sort of purchase requirement. But it's things like $25 off a $50 or higher bill. Some include booze, most don't.

If you stay at Mandalay Bay there is a tram that runs to Excalibur which is on Tropicana, and pretty central. There is also a bus system that runs on the strip that is $3 one way, or $7 for an entire day.

Between Tropicana and Flamingo is a good place to stay. Mandalay Bay is at the very end, like VG said, so it's a long walk to everything.

I don't have specific hotel tips because I've only stayed at cheapie places.

I do want to third "BITE" however. I had so much fun! I've been twice actually!

The Shark Reef Aquarium is really cool. There are tons of free attractions to see too, like the Bellagio Fountains, the Volcano at the Mirage, the lions at MGM. On our first trip to Vegas FI and I just had so much fun walking through the different casinos and admiring the decor. The shopping centers at Caesars and Venetian are really cool.

FI and I would dress comfy for the day and wander until about 4 or 5. Then we'd go back to our hotel and rest/shower/change for the night out. I really like breaking up the day. Vegas can be overwhelming!

This! I'd say more so in the summer, with the heat, I defiantly like a second shower (or bath when I've been lucky enough to stay in rooms with soaking tubs) before dinner and a show (or whatever we're doing that night)

I would also sign up for smartervegas.com - you can get promo codes for hotels... many have perks for buffets, etc.

I would NOT say that Excalibur is centrally located, but it depends on what you plan to do on your trip. Caesar's - like VG said - is in the middle.

I was researching at work last night, and I think MGM would be a better place to stay. MB is way on one end and I think we would be better in the middle by the action!

I will look into discount sites for sure!

Are there any decent grocery stores (by that I mean not super expensive and carries normal things) near the MGM? Our room would have a kitchenette and we could do some of our own food. (If they supply pans and stuff.)

Are you planning on getting a car? If so, there's a Fresh&Easy on the other side of the airport at Warm Springs and Eastern. Vons is at Tropicana and Maryland Pky (by UNLV). Abertson's at Flamingo and Maryland Pky

Technically, the MGM is not that much closer to the action than the MB. You can take the tram from the MB to the Excalibur and that is kitty corner to the MGM. I think you stay ANYWHERE on the strip and be fine because of the monorail. We are staying at the MB in December and will do all our playing at the Riv which is the polar opposite location on the strip. It's all about the monorail.

Also, if it's busy the Deuce (the strip bus) takes FOREVER to get down the strip. The monorail is worth the investment if you are going to be cruising around to different hotels.
