Fi and I ran our second 5k of the year yesterday. It was very nice! Like my first 5k 2 months ago, it was a flat course near the beach. Unlike my first 5k, it was well-organized, not foggy, had good parking options, and had a free pancake breakfast!
I train on a treadmill rather than outdoors, so it's always kind of a shock to have to run a road race. Well, my time (chipped - from the time I crossed the start line until I crossed the finish) was 39:43.7. My goal is ALWAYS to do under 40 minutes and I did it! In a road race! (Hell, my last training run on Wednesday was like 40:12 - I'm glad the terrain didn't slow me down!) My pace was 12:49. Since it was under 13 minutes, I'm happy.
Fi finished ahead of me AGAIN. His time was around 35:30. He was very happy he ran/jogged the whole way. He wants to keep/start training so he can get his time down to around 10 minutes/mile.
We're doing another one on Halloween and then I think I'm going big - 10k on hilly, dirt paths Thanksgiving weekend in wine country.

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

It's on winery property and we get a tasting after the race. Yum!
Les, you can do it! Geez, I was around 260 pounds when I started running. I didn't do C25K, but it looks really similar to what I did on my own. I found a pace that was good for me and kept building up the length or my runs. In the first 2-3 months I was running (about 3 times a week) my endurance went through the roof. When I started I would run .1 miles and then walk .1 miles. I don't always, but now I have run 3 miles at once before. I bet you already havea ton of endurance from biking!
