3 BMs 1 Groomsmen

Our WP includes my 2 sisters; FI 1 sister; and FI 1 brother as his only groomsmen. We decided to do only siblings. Our ceremony is outdoors, non-religious. Would it be odd if FI sister stands on HIS side, behind him, while we recite our vows? So me & my 2 sisters behind me; then him and his sister & his brother behind him? Or should we keep the girls all on one side? I suppose its tradition to keep all the girls together... but I don't really care about traditions! Help!

Re: 3 BMs 1 Groomsmen

  • It depends. Have you already asked his sister to be a bridesmaid? If so, then leave her on your side. If you haven't asked yet, he can ask her to stand up for him. It's becoming more and more common to have mixed-gender wedding parties.

  • I think his sister should stand on his side since her relationship is more with your FI then you.  I do not think this would look odd, many people are doing mixed gender WP now.

  • I agree with PP, I have seen girls stand on the other side, and if you're doing only siblings, most people will get what you are doing. I think it would mean more to her to stand by her brother, and the symbolism of the whole thing will be beautiful!
  • My friend did something similar at her wedding a few weeks ago, it looked really good actually, she had the groomsmen and groomlady (?) in a pistachio green dress for the girl and same color  ties and her bridesmaids and bridesman (?) in pink dresses and matching ties
