Sunday...

Hi all.
We're just waiting on our pizza for lunch. We got 50% off since the rangers scored 7 runs last night.
Yesterday we went to go see Ted with H's parents. That movie is freaking hilarious.

Friday, I went to go see Magic Mike...it did not live up to the hype.

Today, we're going to do some cleaning and then go swimming. I was hoping to start laundry early...but Copper is sleeping on the bed and I really don't want to go into the bedroom to get the basket.

Re: Sunday...

  • Where is everyone?  So disappointing about Magic Mike :(

I am doing nothing but studying today....taking a quick lunch break.  FI is at work and my little boy comes home this evening from his dad's.  The pooch is keeping me company.

We went to the Ranger's game last night as a last "date night" before I can't do anything but study, except for brief breaks for the knot and other necessities lol.  It was a great game and the weather was so nice!  We had a nice breeze.  Reckless Kelly played afterward, which was super fun too, although we left early because we are old.  Then we got frozen yogurt.  It was really nice.

Have a fun day!  Tell the sunshine I say hello and miss it dearly.  :)

  • I just woke up ... pretty dehydrated. I need to drink more water, obviously. And maybe keep the house cooler while we sleep.

In other news, I got LASIK on Friday, and my vision is officially 20/20 for the first time ever. It's amazing and I wish I'd done it years ago.

But I'll admit that I'm sick of putting in the special eyedrops 8x a day (plus regular eyedrops practically every hour). I know i's ridiculous to complain about something so trivial and easy when the surgery went so well and recuperation was so easy, but there it is. Waaah.
  • Dead board is dead, both yesterday afternoon and today.

I dunno, I don't get the whole MM thing, as I posted on Wendi's status.  H always tells me he's not in to strip clubs and titty bars because he doesn't want to sit in a room with other dudes who are all turned on and stuff.  That's weird...and pretty much what I envision going to watch MM is like:  a bunch of 20-50 year old women in mass quantities gettin all hot and bothered. I'm not into the whole concept, but if I was, I know there's hundreds of websites where you can watch whatever is your fancy -- tame or not -- for free.  In the privacy of your own home.  I'm one of the few people that is completed weirded out by going to watch it.

I was really excited because my medication seemed to be working and I wasn't feeling so emotionally crappy anymore.  Then I think I went up too quickly on the dosage, and with this med, if you move up too quickly you can get some type of deadly rash that results in a necrotizing skin disease.  So yeah, I immediately stopped it and now that I've been off it for a few days, I have to restart it sloooooooowly.  I just want to be in a good mood... why must this be so difficult?! LOL

</div><div>Yay for 20/20 vision!  I have to admit I could never, ever do LASIK.  At least not unless I was under general anesthesia.  I am horrible about my eyes -- having the doctor put drops in them is bad enough, but having someone force my eye open and making little cuts with lasers and stuff?  NO WAY, JOSE.  I would literally panic to the point of fighting whoever tried to do that to me, even after taking Valium or Xanax.  It just absolutely freaks me out.  H didn't qualify for LASIK but he had astigmatism that was too severe so he had to do PRK and have it done the old school way with the incisions.  I would have flipped out.

  • Marie- I had Lasik a couple of years ago. Best decision ever. I had to have a special kind of contacts for astigmatism..and a very small percentage of the population actually used them so they became super expenive. My only complaint was that I took the valium one hour prior to surgery time like I was told. It did nothing for my anxiety after waiting in the waiting room.

Amy-It wasn't so bad (there were actually more boobs in the movie than there were Diicks). Nobody (in our showing at least) whooped or hollered. I only went because my friend wanted to go...otherwise I wouldn't have gone by myself.

Does this mean that they actually showed diiicks?  How rare.  Kind of grody, too.  Lol.

I'll watch it at home, if I watch it at all.  I'm not a big theater person, in general.  I like PJ's too much.

Same here, exactly. I only finally made the decision to just do it because I had to switch to a new kind of contacts for astigmatim and they are AWFUL, as well as crazy expensive. And I had the same experience -- I took the valium and really don't know that it had any affect on me at all. Also, there were a lot of people before and after me, and there was a huge lag time between appointments -- my numbing drops wore off a couple of times, which was awful.

I found out later the lag time was only because one patient was having a really hard time getting through the procedure, so I can't really fault the practice too much.

Amy -- luckily I'm someone who HATES my glasses and contacts so much, I didn't really care WHAT was involved in the procedure. I just wanted it done. I didn't even think about it at all beforehand (so I wouldn't get nervous). Then when I went in there ... wow, it was a little more intense than I'd expected. But like they say ... it was less than two minutes per eye and not painful. If I could do it all over again, I'd go to my actual doctor and get a short-term anxiety pill that would actually WORK, and take that well in advance of my appointment time. That would have made it much easier. That valium was over-hyped.

Also, Amy, what medication was that? I've never heard of those kinds of side effects, yikes! Feel free to PM me if you want.

  • Also, my aunt was flipping her shiiit on FB this mornign because she thought that obamacare was going to involve becoming "chipped".
Now that I've informed her she should go actually read the bill she's changed her tune to "The registry is one step away from chipping".
Right..a registry of products that is one step away from banking on a chip in your arm. Makes sense. *eye roll*

Valium and every other anxiety pill I've tried are all over-hyped.  When you're THAT nervous, your fight-or-flight response totally overrides them, at least in my experience.  I've tried most of them, though not all of them.  I take klonopin PRN and if I had to give an ASL presentation I'd have to take 2 mg.  However, if I'm at home and just using it to calm down enough to get to sleep, I only take 0.5.  Even the 2 mg didn't really help for presentations, and as soon as I was done giving the presentation, I would come home and fall asleep on the floor immediately upon walking through the front door.  My fight-or-flight response would totally override the meds, but as soon as the "danger" was gone, they hit me like a semi.

I am taking Lamictal (or lamitrogene).  It's more of a mood stabilizer but it works really well for depression and anger.  It also doesn't have the side effects that are attributed to most antidepressants (like weight gain and reduced libido).  However, they used to always start you using these starter packs where you'd titrate up really slowly.  Now they don't give those out much.  My current doc said not to worry and he started me on a pretty aggressive schedule.  When I upped it last week, I immediately broke out in a rash.  I have eczema that flares during the summer, and I'm fairly sure it was just that, but I think the med aggravated it because I went up to quickly.  Not worth the risk.

  • I wasn't really that nervous before the procedure ... I just figured if they offered, why not take it?

Then I was really disappointed that it didn't make any difference to me at all.

Also, when I was in the prep room with like 3-4 other people, I tried to make a little chitchat, and nobody would even look at me. For whatever reason, that disappointed me the most. When I'm even the least bit nervous about something, I get chatty. That actually relaxes me, talking to other people. So when I got shut down by the other patients, and then was left alone in one of the procedure rooms, I was miserable. Finally a nurse came in and we chatted about Taylor Swift and Katy Perry and other musicians we hate, and I was happy again. (At least until the doc came in.)
  • Kathleen, that little exchange showed up on feed.  Good laugh.  I mean, I get not trusting the government, but I trust the government a bit more than I trust everything I see on the Internet.

Just got back from Dallas.  Watering my lawn and cleaning.  And The Incredibles is on!
