Photography: Two Birds AND Erica Rose

Hello, fellow Knotters!  I am newly engaged (February 11) and have been lurking for the past week or so.  I lived in Chicago for 8 years, currently live in Memphis and will be moving back to Chicago this June (YEAH!).

Does anyone have experience with either of the photographers in the subject?

Erica Rose: definitely in our price range and love what I see online.  I know a few of you have had her do your engagement photos... anyone have her for a wedding yet?

Two Birds: love their online work but am waiting for them to mail me pricing info.  I'm anxious to find out if they are in our price range or not.  Anyone use them?  If so, can you give me a ballpark for price?

Any other photographer suggestions?  We are looking for photojournalistic approach, around $2000 (don't need engagement or album... just full rights).

Thanks, lovely ladies!

We are using Erica Rose and so far we are really happy with her work. Our wedding isn't until July but we had our engagement pics in December (pics in bio).

We're using Two Birds and all I can do is rave about them! Jake is an amazing photographer and so easy to get along with, which was really important to me cause he'll be following me around all day! And Jen is so great with editing and designing, and also incredibly sweet! And their son, Grayson (love the name), is so freaking cute and looks just like Jake.

Depends on what package you want, but I'm pretty sure they have packages in your range. The packages vary in number and types of albums you get, not so much in the hours of shooting. I think their most expensive and inclusive package is 3, but that also includes purchasing the rights to reprint the photos yourself, which is a large part of that cost.

We did our engagement shoot with Jake back in the fall and had an incredible experience. I planned to surprise my FI with concert tickets to see his favorite band that night and let Jake in on it so that he could capture it. Turned out perfect! Let me know if you have any questions. You can tell I'm a huge fan! :)

I am right in the middle of photographer searching.  I know if depends on what all you want in the packages but I do know that Two Birds is closer to $1400 for 8 hours (I don't have all the details in front of me but I'm pretty sure that doesn't include an album in it.  Erica Rose is a bit more but is still within that price range (my budget is right around the same as yours)

I love love wedding photography--even before I got engaged!  I'm thinking of using Erica Rose too. However, I've loved Laura Meyer Photography. She starts at $2800, and I wanted to stay around $2000 too so we will see.

Oh welcome and congrats! I just got engaged on Jan. 5th :)

We're using Michael Rastall (rastallphoto.com). He's around $1800 for 8 hours and does really nice photojournalistic work! Plus he's super sweet and really just a nice guy. We're not doing an e-session and aren't getting married until October, so I have nothing to show you but the great stuff on his website!

I have a GREAT photographer that would be within your price range.  He isn't a big name YET, but I really wanted to support small business/self starters and avoid the wedding factory nonsense for my wedding in october.  He has a great personality and clearly loves photography and knows what he is doing.  His name is Ozzie Ramsay and has a fan page on facebook and ozzieramsayphotography.com.....feel free to give him a shout and tell him that maura sent you his way.  I haven't done my engagement shots with him yet, but that's only because I want to wait for spring

Thank you, everyone!  Also, I agree about supporting the little man... definitely the route I want to take!
