What to pay ceremony musicians

A friend and her husband are performing a song (with guitar and drum) during our communion/unity candle time -- and that's the only performance they'll do. How much $ should I give them? Thanks for any advice.

Re: What to pay ceremony musicians

  • Are you thinking of them as vendors that you chose because you know them? If that's the case, I would look into what other vendors in your area charge for a similar service and go from there.

Are they friends that would be guests anyway and are doing the music as a favor to you? If that's the case, I would just get them a nice thank-you gift, and/or offer to pay for their hotel room.

  • I am paying our guitarist who will only play about 30 minutes (both for the rehearsal and the ceremony), $150.
  • They probably aren't expecting payment, but a thank you gift from you would be nice.  But most of all, take a moment and thank them at your reception.  They don't have to be announced with your wedding party, but if you could find the chance to thank them in front of your guests, that would be really, REALLY nice.
