SA Wednesday.

Wow. Dead board is dead. :(

I don't understand why people ask questions that are answered in the syllabus, and then get pissy when you refer them to it. Reading is your friend.

wow. dead board is dead. where is everybody?

I just have one complaint- if i take time to schedule a meeting per your schedule to discuss your  agenda, you better show up (ahem, client). Don't waste my time making me wait on a conference line for you to show up without as much of an email saying "sorry, something came up, can we reschedule?" Because, honestly, my wasted time is quite desired.

I will never understand why adults think it is okay to berate other adults.  Especially teachers.  We take enough crap from our students and their parents.  We don't need it from our colleagues.

We're going to Uptown to watch the game somewhere, I think.

My parents are currently househunting and I'm supposed to go with them to look at a house around 5:30, and then we will be speeding home to watch the game. I intend to "do homework" while watching. Ha.

No one has been on the boards at all the last couple of days! I guess the wedding lull is affecting the boards.

I had a phone date with my sister last night which was way overdue! She is getting married next June in Asheville, N.C., and is going through a lot of the same 'planning pains' that I did last year around this time. It makes me so sad that we don't live closer (she is in D.C.).

Tonight I'm going to be prepping for our E-pics with Mcgowan tomorrow!

YAY!! I have to get all of the stuff in one place. I need to make a list.

I'm going to have a real AW tomorow!

@Kristan-Where are your parents looking for houses? The house FI and I really had our eye on sold. I'm sad because it seemed like a good deal.

  • edited December 2011
They're looking in a 45 mile radius from my dad's office (near the now-demolished Cowboys Stadium) so they've got a lot of options. The house we're looking at tonight I think they said is in between Corinth and Denton.

Work's crazy and I have nothing WR to say anymore, so I'm just a sometimes lurker here nowadays. But since house talk was brought up ... H and I are under contract for our first home right now! It was super quick from the time we decided to start house-hunting to when we looked at houses and put in an offer on a house. If all continues to go well (we're about 70% through the process now and so far, so good) we'll close before Thanksgiving!

..and then we start paying a mortgage.

<div>yay! That is exciting. GL! Our close process took FOR-EV-ER- but we went with FHA rather than conventional, so there were quite a few more hoops to jump through. Nothing beats the feeling though when they hand over the keys :)

FI and I bought our first house in June- next project- garden/yard haha</div>

I can't wait to use my VA Home Loan and not have to pay a PMI every month. If we do decide to buy a house before we get married, we're looking just to the south of Austin in Buda, where the brand new homes are USDA qualified since FI is not a veteran like me. Buda is so small, you still think you're in Austin City Limits anyways.
  • edited December 2011
Marie- fingers crossed it all moves quickly for you. We put in and had our offer accepted July 25 and close 2 1/2 weeks later on ours, but it was empty and just waiting on someone. We still have a ton of space to fill, but we are getting there.

I have to go by my old apartment this week and clean the rest of it out so I can hand over the keys to them. It's been serving as storage the past two months.

Awww, thank you guys! It's exhausting, since we've had some sort of housing meeting/thing to do almost every day since we started. I guess that's what we get for cramming it all into about a five-week process!

I'm excited just daydreaming about the changes we'll make to the house before fully moving in (replacing the carpets with hard floors). It's a 3 bedroom, and one of the extra bedrooms will be H's office for now. The other will be guest bedroom/my office for at least a year and a half more.

I won't lie though -- as I'm mentally replacing the carpet with the laminate wood floor, I'm totally picturing a crib in that room instead of my desk/file drawers. :)

That's actually the exact blog I was reading to research hardwood vs. laminate floors!

We haven't had to deal with upstairs neighbors because we've been renting a house, but it is a fully-furnished, fully-decorated house. So we're really itching to have our own stuff and decorate the house according to our own taste, finally!

We both had fully furnished (separate) apartments when we met, years ago, but sold all our furniture when we moved cross country here to TX. It made more sense at the time than to pay to move it all. But I miss having stuff of my own.
