2) How many do you think will accept? In the end, we had 31.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Nope! I knew where our immediate families were going to stay, and we didn't want my Dad's side (there's a ton of drama over there) staying at the same condos... so we gave suggestions of places to check out in the Kahana area. Everyone booked their own.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? We did SO much with our guests. We didn't pay for it all though.
Saturday: most guests arrived - made sure OOT bags were there Sunday: welcome bbq at my parents' condo Tuesday: wedding Wednesday: the best man's birthday party at Maui Brewing Company Thursday: Snorkeling/Kayak Trip & Old Lahaian Luau Friday: Post dinner gtg at our condo for the younger generation (read: 30 year olds)
I'm sooo glad we hung out with everyone. It was a blast! Because P.'s family and friends came from England, we rarely get to hang out with them... so it was important to do that when we were all together!
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Dealing with the picky eaters. Seriously. They were totally lame. In the end, I decided to ignore anything that wasn't an allergy or dietary restriction. (I literally couldn't find a single vegetable or protein that everyone would eat. ::eyerolls::)
3) Are you all staying at the same place? The 30-somethings are all staying together. Our older guests are not.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? We're hosting a welcome party and rehearsal dinner for eveyone. FI is planning a deep sea fishing trip and golf day with a bunch of the guys. I'm planning a spa day for some of the girls. Otherwise, we've left it pretty open.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? First, I have to say that I've been impressed with the prompt RSVP responses. I thought that would be our biggest problem--especially for FI's single friends. I'm happy to say that his friends were the first to get theirs in. Kudos!
My biggest gripe is that I spent a ton of time on our wedding website, and people didn't check it. We got calls and emails asking us basic questions that were covered in detail on the website. And these are tech savvy people. That's my advice to brides in the planning process: if there's anything your guests HAVE to know, put it in writing and mail it to them.
Wow, picky eaters? I haven't even thought of that--you get it, you eat it! lol
1) How many did you invite? About 220, but we knew most wouldn't be able to make it.
2) How many do you think will accept? Still waiting to get RSVPs in--we're guessing 60-80.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? We got a room block at the Sheraton Ka'anapali and I was hoping most ppl would stay there so we could enjoy them on what downtime we do have. Prob about half will stay there, half will make their own plans, which is of course totally fine.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? We're hosting a welcome happy hour the night before the wedding. Also inviting girls to join me at the hotel spa and the boys to join FI on a fishing trip the day before, but we aren't paying...
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? My FAMILY members of all people! FI's family is clueless, and my family, well, I don't know what their excuse is. Our MOH (my older sister) and BM (his older brother) have been troopers, though--they are the most excited for us, which is a good thing seeing as how they are the MOH and BM! Ha.
Our families are really big, so they just don't seem as focused on our wedding as we would have imagined. You sure learn a lot about family and friends in the wedding process, don't you??

Posted by nahokulele[/QUOTE]
You sure do!! Some of our friends rose to the occasion, and others... well... yes.
2) How many do you think will accept? i am hoping for 200.... but have planned for 240.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? negatory. a lot are local family and friends. the out of towners are scattered, with maybe 40% staying at one hotel.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? yep. drinks on the thurs before, paradise cove luau on friday, hiking on monday, and waimea bay/giovanni shrimp truck on tuesday.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? hmm, most likely people assuming that their significant others are invited and then booking plane tickets together. if you don't know, then ASK us! don't just assume. assuming makes and ass out of you. haha. we'll see how many uninvited guests just show up at the wedding though (apparently, hawaii people do this all the time? good grief.)
3) Are you all staying at the same place? no - a lot are locals and the OOTers (mostly family) picked their own places to stay. We didn't want to do a block of hotel rooms because we feel that people may want to find cheaper options on their own, or book vacations homes (like my family did).
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Not really, we'll only have 30 OOT guests and I'm not sure when they are arriving yet, and money is tight! If we do anything, it'll be really impromptu and casual.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? My youngest brother is not getting along with my parents right now (read: they are not speaking to each other anymore) and he is supposed to be in the wedding! If they come (which hello, they definitely are!) he probably won't come. Which sucks. But I'd rather have my parents there than him if he is going to act like an a**!! Other than that, everyone is wayyy excited to be there
2) How many do you think will accept? I'm thinking 20, mostly my family, so I'm pretty sure they are set on going.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? No, me and my friends are staying in a little cheaper place, my parents and grandparents are staying right next door though.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Yes. We are having a welcome bbq the day after mostly everyone arrives. Then probably a snorkeling trip for whoever wants to come. Me and my girls are doing a spa day the day before the wedding.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Not so much yet, because its a little far in advance, but people are trying to invite other people that I didn't want there. (boyfriends, girlfriends, ect.)
2) How many do you think will accept? I'm hoping for 120ish, but will be ok with around 100. So hard to predict....
3) Are you all staying at the same place? No, about a 1/3 are local, and a lot of people coming from the mainland are tying this into a longer vacation, so we wanted to leave it open. We do have a block of rooms, in Waikiki, but I don't know how many of them will actually be booked.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Hopefully. We are planning a welcome cocktail hour on Friday for everyone, and we aren't really having a rehearsal dinner (due to the small size of the wedding party and issues with FI's parents being in the same room together for too long).
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Difficulty of planning the welcome cocktail reception mainly. Invites went out two weeks ago and we've gotten a good number of response. We've had a couple surprise "yes" responses, and a couple unexpected "no" responses, but overall so far so good.
2) How many do you think will accept? hoping for under 200, we thought around 250, ended up at 230
3) Are you all staying at the same place? no...99% of my guests are local or are from here and still have family here. if anything, a few friends and family stayed in waikiki for a mini stay-cation and so that they wouldn't have to drive home.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? no, i had wanted to grab drinks with some out of town friends the night before, but i just had too much going on. we left the next day for our honeymoon.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? it really irritated me when people made a big deal over what they would be eating. is it going to be buffet? oh...it's sit down??? what are we eating? but i heard the buffet was really good. is there going to be enough to eat? i guess i'll bring a snack. sigh.
It was also difficult because I really wanted a sit-down meal but my hotel didn't offer guests choices. I had to pick one entree and that was it (although they did make accommodations for vegetarians and kids). Hubby and I both love seafood, but unfortunately a number of people in my dad's family (including my dad) are allergic to shellfish, so that limited our choices.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? No, there are 18 of us staying in a complex of 4 villas. Everyone else is staying in and around Kihei.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? We have a Welcome bbq at my brother in laws house (he lives in Haiku). A golf day for the guys/ hula lessons for the girls and a rehearsal dinner.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Accommodation drama. We rented 4 villas (12 bedroom house that is split into 4 villas with a shared pool between the villas). FI's brother and 2 of his friends dropped out after we had payed for it. We got some of our money back for 1 of the villas but now total strangers are staying in it. It sucks because we really wanted it to be private. I just wish people would stick to their word.
1) How many did you invite? We're planning on inviting around 120ish
2) How many do you think will accept? I honestly will be surprised if more than 35 people come
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Nope we have a travel agent who is going to work out individual air and hotel packages since our peeps all have different accomodation standards
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? we're looking into maybe doing a cruise out to molokini since we have some contacts from when we worked on cruise ships
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? People keep complaining about the cost and the fact that we're going to Hawaii in July when that's the only time Canada is nice :P ( I do understand that it's not cheap to go there but thats where we are getting married so I wish people wouldn't complain directly to us cuz it just makes us feel crappy

1) How many did you invite? Probably 60 invites (haven't reached that stage of planning yet!)
2) How many do you think will accept?
Estimating 35 to 40 (fingers crossed!)
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Most likely no (everyone has different preferences and price ranges). Immediate family will probably stay on the same property though.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Welcome bbq, rehearsal dinner luau, and farewell brunch. Undecided about optional activities (ideas include drive to Hana, shopping trips, beach day, boat trip?). Just some chillin' and relaxin'!
5) Biggest guest gripe so far?
No drama so far (invites aren't out yet). Except one old friend/classmate tried to get herself invited via a bridesmaid (sneaky, LOL). Nothing too dramatic... Just usual destination wedding worries about whether people will be able to take time off work and afford to come to our wedding (not really a gripe). I'll probably have more to complain about once the invites are out! lol
Oh Audrey, that's so crap about your brother and parents. I hope they can work something out for your sake! 1) How many did you invite? We invited 74 people
2) How many do you think will accept? I'm hoping for 50, but it could be anywhere from 45-60.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? About 25-30 people will be staying at a group of condos in Kihei (mostly family & Aussie friends). My parents' friends will most likely stay in Wailea. I'm staying at my parent's home in Wailea. Don't know yet where FI will stay the night before...
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them?
I wanted to plan more, but FI reminded me that this is their vacation too, and that we'll be plenty busy, as well.
Dec 3-7: Boys go on "bucks" party in Vegas (their families check out Oahu)
Dec 7: Most guests will arrive on Maui
Dec 10: Hosted Snorkel Cruise & no-host dinner in Kihei
Dec 11: bridal party & my mom do spa day & welcome dinner/rehearsal dinner at parents' house.
Dec 12: Wedding
Dec 13: no-host breakfast
Dec 14: All Aussies leave (including us for our honeymoon)
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Oohh. I have a few....hehe. Like HappyGoLucky, I have also found that people are not checking the wedding website to get basic information, like when should they arrive. FI & I are having to plan all of our Aussie friends' accommodations & airfare...don't ask why. And, of course, pressure from family and friends to invite more people (boyfriends and distant family I've met once).
2) How many do you think will accept? 18 currently have plane tickets. We're thinking a maximum of 35
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Most of our guest are staying at the Hilton, we have 4 that may be staying elsewhere
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them?
June 8 - Welcome cocktails at the bar at the hotel so everyone can meet June 9 - We're hosting all of our guests for the Rock N Roll Blues Cruise - Classic rock and drinks.....can life get much better lol June 10 - wedding June 11 - Hilton does fireworks and we're all meeting on the beach to watch.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Everyone is pretty okay with everything. I can honestly say no complaints. Everyone is just excited to be going!!!
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Our guests stayed all over Kihei and Wailea and one family stayed in Kaanapali
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Yup, we did a bunch of stuff. We went to the Old Lahaina Luau, hosted a Welcome Thanksgiving Dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, then did a Mahalo Brunch at the Four Seasons. A small group of us girls in my family had a spa day and lunch at the Grand Wailea too -- it was amazing!
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Definitely the RSVPs to the wedding and people inviting themselves to the wedding...it's all over now though...

1) How many did you invite? We are currenlty at 192 but the list seems to keep growing
2) How many do you think will accept? Hopefully around 80
3) Are you all staying at the same place? No, we have rooms blocked at the hotel for the night of the wedding but most of our OOT guests are renting houses or condos.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Yes, a welcome bbq/beach trip two days before, rehersal dinner and possible luau, girls trip to the spa (hula lessons sound like fun as well!), guys deep sea fishing trip, and good-bye brunch. (If budget allows.) We also may have some other activities planned for OOT guests, sight seeing and touristy stuff.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? We've already had to change the date because my SIL is pregnant and due on our wedding date I really want them there so its worth it, but I'm hoping for limited drama!
I think we're inviting like 80-ish. We don't have a final guest list.
2) How many do you think will accept?
25-30
3) Are you all staying at the same place?
Nope, but in the same area (for the most part).
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them?
A welcome dinner the night before, and maybe something the day after - sunset cruise?
5) Biggest guest gripe so far?
Actually, everyone has been great, for the most part. We've had some people make plans to come who've surprised us, and so far no one who had committed to coming has bailed, so that's good. Like pp, I had one complain a lot about the expense involved and, while I appreciate that this is expensive, I wish they'd just let me know once they make their decision on whether to come, because it makes us feel bad otherwise. I mean either you decide it's worth it, or you don't.
As for websites, I read early on that no matter how much info you send out, guests will still want to call and talk to you - because they're excited to talk about the wedding and their plans to attend. We've absolutely found that to be true. In our case, people are both relying on the site and calling to talk to us about their travel plans - which I understand, and enjoy. We've also sent out periodic emails to everyone planning to go, each time linking the site, and giving key info (like when to arrive, generally what area to stay in, etc.) and I've found that's helped keep people on track.
2) How many do you think will accept? Hoping for 25 to attend.
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Ah well for the most part I believe most of my faimly and FI's faimly and bridal party will be at or near each other.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? We really havent decided that as we are making this our honeymoon after the wedding.
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? FMIL!!! No one including me likes her. Its become such an issue. FSILs and FBILs dont want to attend if they have to be there with her and shes trying to make nice to all of them but really shes a back stabbing lying bitch. Oh ya and if shes coming we have to pay her way, which I dont like but fi says she has to be at the wedding and he will pay for her to be there. FI doesnt really like her as she always creats problems, and that is what I see on our wedding. Hopefully she will get lost on the island. I am not babysitting her, this is our day and she needs to understand that!
3) Are you all staying at the same place? Most of us are staying at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach since our reception will be on the Voyager Deck there. Everybody else is close by.
4) Are you planning on having any other activities to do with them? Tues- Kayaking trip with family that is in town Wed- Rehearsal dinner @ Hula Grill Thurs- Wedding Fri- Mahalo breakfast @ Shorebirds in the hotel
5) Biggest guest gripe so far? One of my best friends that is going decided to break up with her boyfriend- less than a month before the wedding, so we're out the price of one dinner. Oh well! That's not too bad!

5) Biggest guest gripe so far? Everyone is pretty okay with everything. I can honestly say no complaints. Everyone is just excited to be going!!!
2) How many do you think will accept? We had 84
I really want them there so its worth it, but I'm hoping for limited drama!
We've already had to change the date because my SIL is pregnant and due on our wedding date

My Bio

One of my best friends that is going decided to break up with her boyfriend- less than a month before the wedding, so we're out the price of one dinner. Oh well! That's not too bad!
