Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I actually don't think you're allowed to post stuff like this on TK.  Sorry.

ETA:  By what Hike said, it's just public opinion that's it's not okay.  I wish you luck anyway.

  • Honestly, people dont really take these posts well on the board. (any board not just this on) I'm sorry but I don't like liking things on Facebook that I don't have experience with or know. Good luck.

  • Sammy- technically they are only against the rules if she posts on numerous boards (spamming). Op- usually people will vote for those against you. So I wouldn't post this anywhere else.

  • Yah...not a big fan of these. A lot of people will vote against you just for posting these. I'd recommend deleting your post.

  • Actually, I'm pretty sure it says "No soliciting of any kind" so technically this is soliciting votes, and thus against the rules. Still, it's a gray zone - a military bride who is in the service herself and asking military brides to help her isn't unreasonable, I think.  Still, I'd want to know something more about you than just some random stranger asking me to help them out.  Especially on Facebook, where it involves your personal identity.

I participated in a similar competition a few months ago, and I post on these boards ALL THE TIME and I never mentioned it here - the girls I was friends with on Facebook knew about it and most of them kindly helped me out, but I just don't think it's good judgement (PERSEC, to be specific) to be posting Facebook information on a public forum.

  • FTR, I think people would be more likely to vote for you if you had come on, introduced yourself, etc. and this wasn't your only post on here.  Future reference.

Seriously, did TK eat my cover question because it was mildly snarky?

  • Irish, I saw it.  It made me laugh.

Mine too! He follows me EVERYWHERE I go. I can't even close the door to the bathroom cuz he sits outside and meows and scratches the door til I let him in. And sometimes he hides around corners and attacks me when I walk by.

It was just an Officer in Navy Dress Mess/Dinner Dress/whichever nomenclature you prefer. Technically the combination cover isn't required.

  • I love how she came on here saying she was Navy, also.  Um, her links gave us FAR too much access to personal information so I'm really glad for her sake she took them down... because I found out she isn't Navy, she'll commission in December, that she's ROTC.  That just feels like stretching the truth a bit, no?

  • Eh I've been mean enough already in this thread. I'll give her a pass on that one, since we have people on here trying to commission, reserves, etc.

Yes, but they say they're "going to be" rather than claiming they are.  To be honest, that bothers me a lot more than the lack of cover, which is apparently optional.

Sorry, I don't know if this is as big a deal in other branches, but I know in the Marines they are NOT Marines until they commission, and saying that they are a Marine when they're a Candidate is enough reason for quite a verbal lashing!  We have a friend who was telling people he was a Marine when he was slotted to go to OCS that summer, and it was a big deal.

  • Well its not like she intro'd anything major, it was basically a one liner solicitation. I'm just saying for me personally. And I recind my cover comment, as I was corrected for that.
    image
  • It will come back to haunt her when people are looking at her funny because she's saying she's been in 4 years and she's still wearing butter bars.

<div>Yeah, what Cal said. I am trying to become a Marine Officer. If I ever said I was in the Marine Corps at any point before pinning on rank, I hope I'd get slapped. And there are Marine Candidates in Naval ROTC who would get slapped.</div>
