to video or not to video?

ok ladies,
my family and i are in disagreement...i want at least the ceremony to be taped, i don't need it edited, just the raw video would be fine and i want a professional to do it, my family and FI see no need to tape it at all (hello, seriously?) it isn't in the budget so i'm pretty sure i would have to take on the cost (and $ is tight just like for everyone else these days) so i guess my question is- is it worth it to get a  prof to do it or should i just hand someone a camcorder and sit them in the font row??

It might not be that much for a professional to just do the ceremony, but then again, I don't know if they would only do the ceremony.

Either way, I think you should have it taped. There will be things you missed or don't remember.

My suggestion would be to contact companies and see how much it would be for the raw, unedited taping.  Many companies DO offer this, even if it is not listed on their website.  And if it is only for the ceremony, not the entire wedding, you shouldn't have to spend much at all.

My inclination is to do that, instead of buying a camcorder and all the stuff to go with it.  Plus, even if it is unedited, you will at least have a steady hand and someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to taping.
