Custom wedding band recommendations?

Hi!

I have an antique (1920s art deco) engagement ring with an unusual shape and I want to get a band made to fit it. Does anyone have recommendations for jewelers who do custom work, especially in antique reproduction?

Re: Custom wedding band recommendations?

  • Just a note about doing custom work.  Make sure you work with a jeweler who has an in house designer that you can talk to directly.  We tried doing custom for my enagement ring and we were working with a jeweler who used a designer out of Indy.  Worst 12 week experience ever.  We ended up canceling our order because the ring would have represented a lot of anger and frustration (not how I wanted to start my marriage!!).  Our biggest problem was the we were working with sales people at the store and they were working with the designer.

  • We have custom bands from Faigle and Sons on the west side.  Small family jeweler.  He created wax molds of the bands and we approved everything before he cast them.  They turned out great!
  • I've seen some very nice work from a family owned store in Newport:  Jewel King.  I don't know that they *specialize* in custom work, but I do know their designer is on-site (the owner, I think).
  • Faigle's for sure!
reasonable and work done on premises
  • I would highly recommend Krombholz Jeweler in Montgomery.  My fiance designed my engagement ring there.  They mostly do custom jewelery including antique/vintage style and they are affordable!
  • We went through Diamonds Rock in Kenwood. They offer proofs and like a pp mentioned, wax molds. That way, you can try it on with your emgagement ring to ensure you like the look. We worked with Jessica and she was awesome!
